s strength has been for producing short documents such as flyers, brochures and newsletters. This makes it more suitable for a small business.

However, in the latest version of each program, Page Maker has added features for long document handling and Ventura Publisher has added more typographic controls to help compete in the layout of short documents. Ventura Publisher recognises text created with Word, Word Perfect, Word Star, Xerox Writer and Xywrite. a degree of internal consistency, unless specifically overridden by the user. This could be an advantage that a small DTP company can use to market and expand the business. Adobe Page Maker is a professional-level page layout application. Usually it is marketed as a small business/enterprise publishing solution. In output, it shines just as bright as similarly as the Ventura Publisher but it is not as friendly as compared to the Ventura Publisher.

In page lay outing, Adobe Page Maker ads merge, that is PDF import/export. This helps page lay outing a little difficult since these PDFs cannot be edited to suit the requirements of the company. Whereas the Ventura Publisher allows for the integration of text, images on the page, easy manipulation of page elements, creation of artistic layouts and multi page publication such as newsletters and books, High- end or professional level tools include more prepress features while, software for home or small business have more templates and clip arts.

This enhances the growth and expansion of the small DTP Company. However, the Adobe Page Maker is a capable program for general desktop publishing tasks for individuals and small mid- size business requiring a product with wide spread industry support and high- end capabilities. Both Ventura Publisher and Adobe Page Maker now include a variety of electronic publishing capabilities. This will make web publishing or electronic publishing easier for a new desktop publishing company which might need to explore into electronic publishing hence company development.

The advantages of using a Ventura Publisher over that of the Adobe Page Maker are that, the Ventura Publisher has the ability to run, with reasonable response times, on a wide

range of hardware. The Ventura Publisher produces automatic re- export of text to word-processor- native formats. It also has the ability to print to a wide variety of devices. This will make it easier for a small DTP company which might not have full equipment; they can take their work to be printed elsewhere from a variety of printing types.

In graphics, Adobe Page Maker uses software like the Adobe Illustrator. The Adobe Illustrator is usually graphic software for vector drawing. The illustrator can also be used for some page layout task including business cards and ads. In Ventura Publisher, there is a Corel draw graphic tool which works most similarly to the Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Corel draw includes vector drawing, Photo-Paint for photo editing, clip arts and other images. Adobe Page Maker includes of both HTML and the PDF export.

The new version lets you merge text and graphics originally stored in a spread sheet or database into your lay out, which is useful for creating repetitive layouts such as product catalogs. Most small publishing company do not publish huge products like books but they usually publish catalogs and this Adobe Page Maker makes it a whole lot easier. Ventura Publisher has software products with powerful features geared towards corporate and long document publishing.

Although this program may not be suitable for a small business company, it consists of highly customisable interface and tight integration with Corel products. Therefore Ventura Publisher may be the worth considering. It consists of databases, word processing, image editing fonts and other software program in the box. From the above comparative, the best software program that could be used by a

small DTP company is Ventura Publisher. However, some might find it more appropriate to use the Adobe Page Maker as software to their small business.

Most people use Ventura Publisher for their businesses for professional quality output. Nonetheless, the Adobe Page Maker can be credited and a small DTP company may consider using it.
