The liberal Middle Class or "bourgeois"- they wanted moderate political reforms for the future of France. The Socialists or working class- they wanted far reaching social and economic change. At this time in France there was a deep recession and many people were out of work. There was also a famine and many were hungry. These were hard time for workers. There were many angry men! It was also the era of enlightenment thinking. These ideas planted to seed of revolution in the minds of the angry men. Furious workers took to the streets with violent protest. The bourgeois liberals turned violently against the socialist protestors and peasants feared the socialist would take their land out of desperation for food, so they also attacked the violent workers. 1, 500 people were killed before the government crushed the rebellion
