The responsible for the observers to the victim which sometimes the people offers to help, but they also fearing that what the result will put them in a negative position. To have empathy to the victim is very important when other’s human rights are violated. From my reading novel “To kill a mockingbird” by Harper Lee, “Night” by Elie Wiesel, the article “obedience of Rwanda” and the “Gang rape raises questions about bystanders”, all of the text examples above identify the answers the readers need. Would the action of the observer change anything?
Should people have responsible to the situation? People offer to help the victim because they know how horrible the event and the consequence will be. In the novel “To kill a mockingbird” by Harper Lee, Boo Radl
...ey bravely saved scout and Jem when they almost got killed by Bob Ewell, as it stated “Anyway, Jem hollered and I……”Hey, Boo. ” I said. ” (p. 270) often when people see someone got hurt by some violation, if the observer is with no one else beside themselves, the observer won’t want to get involved in this situation.
But Boo Radley can’t watch this happen, even actually react and save the victim. Often people just curse the villain but don’t really react or have the courage to help the victim. The determination and the courage of Boo Radley are what the people got to learn about. In addition, same as from the novel “To kill a mockingbird”. When Mayella and her father were tried to falsely incriminate Tom Robinson by rigging wrong events and evidence, Atticus as a lawyer was voluntarily
tried to prove to the jury that Tom Robinson is innocent “The state has not produced…….. alking straight toward Atticus. ”(P. 203-206)This quote shows that Atticus is very lucid about what his goal and what he were trying to tell the people. When a good innocent man has been in a maliciously false by someone, it’s very important that people lucid knows what their responsibility to the situation. Both Characters the author creates are well educated people, not only which, they can actually react and try to change the event. But why can’t people understand how powerful that they can change the event if only they can have empathy to the situation.
To have empathy to the victim is very important when other’s human rights are violated. Does anyone know how painful and suffering it’s to recognize that no one will come to help when de or she is in the situation of violating? For example, from the article “Gang rape raises questions about bystanders’ role”. In this article, there are more then 20 witnesses watching the gang raping event but no one came up to help the only victim “ as many as 20 people….. Authorities said. ” The witnesses didn’t know when they react nothing, how much it hurts the victim then the villain hurts.
In addition, from the novel of “Night” by Elie Wiesel, when Elie’s father almost die, the Nazis carry him to the crematory, but Elie can’t do nothing to the things that is going to happen to his father, “I awoke on January 29 ….. Free at last! ”(p. 116) when he realizes that he can’t do
anything to change the fact that his father will send into the crematory, no one is able to help him, which is a very painful situation. To save a person from a bad situation, not only makes people looks good to people, that person will always remember who ever the people help them.
Ones conceive the requirements for moral duty instead of assistant the victim, it comes to a consideration in which many refuse to take action because of fearing to place them self in a negative position. In the article “obedience in Rwanda” it stated “they began shooting at us, and we threw stones at them, because we have nothing else, the attacker began to break down the doors, and to kill, shooting and throwing grenades, the two policemen who had been our protectors, were now attackers. This represent the domination of the attackers, the policemen aware of the attack refuse in taking action of protecting their people instead they took part in the sine avoiding placing themselves in danger. In addition, from the novel “Night”, it stated “I had watched the whole scene without moving. I kept quiet. In fact I was thinking of how to get farther away so that I would not be hit myself” Elie witnessed his father beaten yet he shown refusal in taking action toward the situation, because Elie himself acknowledge the outcome of the conflict.
If he in volt himself in it. in which he’ll get hurt as while. The following article of “obedience in Rwanda” and the novel “Night” represent those showing refusal in taking action as a result of fearing to placing themselves
in a negative position. Both witness (Elie/policemen) shown similar reaction or action toward the conflict they’re facing, instead of worrying about others safety they care more about the safety of themselves.
The witness’s responsibility for the victim, mostly affect the witnesses themselves too. To assist the victim doesn’t always have negative result, also represent the moral character he or she has. Get yourself involved not only can help the victim it also help the world. As a result, when fearing get in front of your courage, just give some empathy to the victim, try to think of some positive ways to help the victim, not just stand there and make everything getting worst.
