Barriers to Progress: The Limitations on Poor Women Essay Example
Women in the world have played significant roles in promoting the growth of their countries regarding economic, political and social stratifications.
Their contribution cannot be overlooked. The women in most countries have gone out of their ways to work better than their male counterparts (Haque, 34). The women in developing countries have had a rough time to make their contributions in their respective areas. It is vital to consider the impacts that can be witnessed if the women are given the full support both socially and economically. It is predicted that if women are granted the full support by their male counterparts, the society will witness a tremendous change for better. The notion of whether women have value to the development of their country or if they hold little say in society has been settled in the scholarly circles.
T
...he essay outlines the ways in which women have been denied the support to enable them to give their best in the society development. The article further describes the notion of whether women have been given the required support of developing the organization or there are responsible for their actions. Women are undermined in the society. The women cannot be fruitful they are exposed to poor working environments. The women receive mistreatment from their husbands through domestic violence.
Women are previewed to be house help to their male counterparts. They work under the strict supervision of the men (Isla, 23). The women are often mistreated through not being the ample time to concentrate on their affairs. Domestic violence often demoralizes the women making them be pinned down and not able to participate in the development of the society. I
the women are given the mandate to rule over their families, it expected that they would manage to avoid domestic violence hence encouraging peaceful coexistence in the family thereby indulging in the meaningful activities that promote development. Similarly, women are suppressed by the laws of the countries that entail the ownership of property.
Women in most societies in the developing countries are not given equal access to economic resources like their male counterparts. The laws depict that the women do not have the mandate to own property thinking that the women are not responsible as compared to men. The women are encouraged to own their affairs of the families partly. The women are not given equal shares in the inheritance. In some countries, women are not involved in the development processes through not encouraging them to participate in an investment making them lack the required financial abilities to take part in the development (Lego, Finarya & Suman, 42).
Women are still considering to be less qualified to manage resources in the countries; they are however expected to work like servants under the management of the males. This practice makes the women be of less value inheriting the wealth or the economic resources. Additionally, women are not involved in the leadership process of the country. In most developing countries, the women do not actively participate in the process of political leaderships although the process is perceived to be the democratic right of all citizens.
The women are therefore expected to contribute to the leadership of their countries through supporting the male candidates, but they are not given the equal chances to participate actively in the administration processes. The process
makes the women less considered during the making of the political decisions in the countries (Legoh, Finarya & Suman 54). The laws made by the political organization do not recognize the contributions of the women because women’s participation is not witnessed directly. The women in the country are therefore not given the same priorities in the leadership position hence their access to the economic opportunities allocated through the political sphere are not witnessed (Radcliffe 54). This practice hinders the women from proceeding well in the development for lack of considerations in the decision-making process. Nonetheless, if women are given the same opportunity in the political affairs, they are bound to perform well then even some of the males.
This action will promote their positive contribution in the process of development through the provision of useful ideas that enhance equitable allocation of resources. Women in the developing countries are granted the same educational opportunities like the males. Women are shown to engage in less scholarly activates only during their early years. Women in these countries are given minimal educational opportunities. Girls in most countries with some cultures consider marrying off their daughters during their first years. A girl is depicted to be married off at an age of twelve years.
The age of the girls is still lesser than the males who are required to get married at an age of thirty years (Legoh, Finarya & Suman 66). The girl is forced to stop education advancements and concentrate on the family affairs. This practice indicates that the male students are granted enough time to focus on the studies while the girls are forced to stop advancing into marriage
relationships. The lack of proper educational knowledge, make the women to of less value regarding their contribution to the growth of the countries. The society is therefore considered to be unfair to the women regarding offering the educational facilities to the women who also require to actively participating in the education process just like their males counterparts till they reach the peak of their educational levels. If the women are given equal educational opportunities like the men are given, the women to improve their scholarly ability to be equally fruitful like the males.
Their contribution to the growth of the country is expected to increase. According to the researches done on the opportunities given to the men ate the workplaces are more than those of the women. Women are given lesser little jobs. The lack of proper educational skills and the competency resulting from being given fewer educations opportunities denies the women the women the opportunities to secure the most valuable job positions in the countries. The positions that women hold in most organizations entail less involvement in the leadership or physical activities.
Most companies expect employees that are all round and therefore most of the sensible areas of the companies are given to the males (Radcliffe 22). The women mostly are given the secretary positions. The contributions of the men in the companies are considered more important than that of the females. The practice of requiring employees to perform more physical works by the companies makes the women have fewer considerations than the males. The level of the salaries given to the employees is highly dependent on competency pay and performance pay; the women are disadvantaged
through the use of this law because most of them receive little pay due to lack proper skills at the place of work. This practice eventually results in making the women less economically stable than the males.
Women according to the physical makeup are less secure compared to the men. The women are less protective than men. The women are prone to attacks from both other women and men. Lack of security to the women makes them have little abilities to participate in the economic developments. Women often avoid most troubled areas that are considered risky due to lack of adequate security (Radcliffe 33).
Many cases of rape have been mentioned in most countries that leave women traumatized and usually result in consequences like a contraction of diseases or even death. These cases mostly make women feel insecure to indulge in the risky processes or events that are even considered to be development (Naerssen 22). Nonetheless, if the security of the women is provided, they are bound to perform better than some men. However, the notion that women are the only ones that are disadvantaged in the society is not substantive. There is some factor like the poor transport and communication systems in the country often affect the activities of both genders in the society. These factors remain constant in the community, and no sex is considered to be more valuable than the other.
These factors are present in most developing countries where the economic activities of the countries are hindered hence promoting less economic growth. The `fact than men are depicted to find the way out by resolving the issues does not mean that they are favored
than women. It is vital to note that both genders have the similar chances of making their progress and engage in the development of their countries. In the same breath, political instability in the country affects all efforts both genders in society. The factors are shown to be similar and do not favor any individual on any basis. The women are granted the same opportunities to make a difference; most women are more concerned with the affairs of their families like raising the children avoiding their active participation in the legal matters (Naerssen 64).
Additionally, it is true that many women in other countries are shown to be active in the political spheres than men. The notion that women are denied the opportunity in the leadership, therefore, has not evidential support. Women have the chance to rule, but many of them show little interest in the sector hence their contributions are not fully witnessed. Health factors including the occurrence of diseases often affect all the members of the society.
The fact that the results often leave women unable to indulge in the development process does not give a sufficient explanation to prove that women are disadvantaged in the society. Women have the same expectations to perform to their best despite the presence of the health factors (Marcus, 56). Some women, however, are more active in the society and engage in meaningful activities like construction activities hence their contributions are not neglected. Laws in the country are made based on the cultures of the people. The laws in most counters recognize the rights and freedom of the girl child. Often, the laws tend the favor the girls more
than the boy child.
Although both are given similar treatments, the girl- child is handled with care considering that they are vulnerable in society. This explains why there are freedom organizations that fight for the rights and freedoms of the women. The bodies try their based to act on the cases involving any form of mistreatment done on women to ensure they receive adequate care to perform their activities well. This shows that all the genders are granted the same treatment and therefore the women are expected to perform to their requirements of the society. My stand concerning the topic is that all members of the community are given the same opportunities to indulge in the development activities but contrary to that, women in most developing countries are denied the opportunity to give their best. Women need to be granted the same treatment as men through giving them educational facilities, the job opportunities and the access to the ownership of wealth just like men (Madsen, 42).
Women are considered vulnerable in society due to the nature in the physical make. They are mistreated by men through domestic violence and the given less chances in the leadership positions. These conditions contribute to the inability of the women to take part in the development practices hence they should not be blamed for the post in the society. In conclusion, it is worth noting that the women in developing countries are given little opportunities in the development activities of the countries. Their contributions are shown to be overlooked by the men. According to the research, women are shown to be house helps and assistants to the men something that needs
to be corrected according to the human rights and freedoms.
All genders are equal and need to be treated equally. Women need to be granted the same rights to the access and use the economic resources in the society (Madsen, 12). Successful women in the developed countries need to come up strongly and help to correct the view that women are less valuable in the developing countries. According to the current affairs of the world, laws need to be formulated to promote equality in the society.
