The influence of television on American culture is profound, as it molds our sense of morality. During my formative years, I was exposed to programs like Roseanne, The Cosby's, and Full House that presented an ideal family life which became the prototype for American living. Furthermore, shows aimed at teenagers such as Saved by the Bell and 90210 impacted their conduct and fashion style.
The figures we saw on television had a strong influence on our identities and continue to shape who we are today. TV also affects our family dynamics, with shows like American Idol and sports programs bringing people together to cheer on their favorites. Reality TV has become increasingly popular and impacts our culture greatly. Many people have a celebrity they look up to or try to emulate. However, reality TV can also invade the lives of real people, and it seems that Ame
...rican culture is consumed with the business of others.
Involving oneself in other people's affairs is made easy with Reality TV. Although the impact of visual entertainment can be negative, there are also positive aspects. Family-oriented programs exist alongside compromising and explicit entertainment, with both having a vast audience. The FCC exists to regulate what's allowed on television and ensure monitoring of certain content. Notable channels like Oprah's Oxygen focus on uplifting specific groups.
Although there are programming efforts throughout the day that focus on women, there are also shows like BAD GIRLS CLUB that portray women as aggressive fighters who use vulgar language. While I personally enjoy the show, I can't ignore the questionable motives behind it. These TV stations are motivated by profit and need to attract a large audience
to satisfy multiple demographics. However, visual media has a significant impact on attitudes and behavior, and our society is heavily influenced by what we see. Trends and fads emerge from these influences and people are always striving to create the next "best" thing.
The American culture is characterized by its particular practices and traditions.
