Passing My Driving Test Passing my driving test was a huge accomplishment in my life. Without having my driver's license there would be many things I could not do; like drive to work and school every day or drive to my dad's house on the weekends. Before someone gets their license in the state of Mississippi, they must first get a driving permit and hold it for a year before taking the actual driving test. Having the drivers permit only meaner you can only drive with a licensed adult. I got my permit in August of two thousand and twelve and I was already eager to get my full license.
While I had my driving permit my dad would let me drive him everywhere for that whole
...year. It was good experience for me getting some driving time and learning how to drive on the road and highway. There were a few times when I drove he would get scared, but not too often. He taught me well. I liked driving with him while learning, he did not freak out if I messed up. He would stay calm and help me out with any situation. Driving with my mom was not as easy. She would get scared and freak out more often, but we always made it through. They day I took my driving test to get my license was a good day.
I could not wait to be able to drive by myself. All I had to do was pass the driving portion of the test. I wanted to take the test in the morning. My mom and I left as early as
possible so when we got there the DIM was Just opening. We drove our hummer to the DIM. It is a big vehicle and I was not very comfortable driving it. Once we got there, they called us up to drive. It was Just me and the officer in the hummer. While driving we did not talk much at all. The officer was busy grading me the whole time, but I drove my best. We probably drove for ten minutes and it was not as hard as I thought it would be.
I was still nervous and ready to know if I passed or not. After I was done driving, my mom and I waited for them to call us to the front desk. After about five minutes they called me us and told me I passed. They took my picture and printed my new license. I was so excited I passed. I got to drive home and when I got home my new truck was waiting on me. I did not want to go to school that day, but my mom made me. So I drove to school and showed off my truck and license. When I got back home that day, I drove to my dad's house in Memphis to show him my accomplishment.
He was excited for me and he let me drive us to dinner in my new truck. Earning my driver's license has been my biggest accomplishment in my life so far. It has given me so many opportunities and opened up some freedom. Getting my license also brought along bills. I had to pay off the truck and pay
for gas and insurance, so I had to get a Job. Now that I have my license I have been able to drive wherever I want. I drive to school instead of riding the bus every day. I also drive to work every day after school. Having my driver's license has been a huge accomplishment in my life.
