The University Malaysia Sabah Civil Engineering Club is hosting a competition program from November 29th to December 1st, 2013. The event will span over a period of three days.
The competition is exclusive to students in the School of Engineering and Information of Technology (SKTM). It aims to enhance the responsibilities, skills, and creativity of engineering students. The competition focuses on designing a bridge, with objectives of promoting creativity and increasing understanding and interest in building structures and design.
The rules and regulations are as follows:
- Teams must consist of 5 or 6 students.
- Models must be displayed during the exhibition.
- Entries not complying with the rules will be disqualified.
- Judges' decisions are final.
Materials:
- The models must be made from non-metallic materials.
- The organizer wi
ll provide Seraya wood (5mm x 5mm) with known strength.
- Participants will receive 1 saw and glue.
- Other materials such as paper, thread, straws, and masking tape may be used but will not be provided by the organizer.
Model Construction:
- The bridge model can only be constructed during the specified competition days at the location New DKP 10, as designated by the organizer.
Model Specification:
- The clear span between supports should measure 1000mm.The maximum length of the overall should not exceed 1200 mm.
- The model must have a simple support.
- The bridge's deck slab should be horizontal and must be a part of the model bridge structure.
- The maximum deck width is 100 mm and it can accommodate dual carriageway of at least 30 mm wide each.
