According to Lakoff, women language contains certain aspects that are related to their language, and this holds some sense of truth to us, though this does not apply to all women and on the other hand there exist distinct features related to men’s speech. During the lectures, the discussions about the common features related to women’s language that relates to the majority of women did not apply to us and our interactions. For instance, according to Lakoff, women tend to use a variety of descriptions when they are describing colors such as violet instead of purple and incorporate swear words and hedge phrases into their speech, similar to men, which most of us do not use. This holds some truth especially in this era where male and female interactions are being seen where both people of different gender share their ideas and thoughts

The more men and women interact with each other consciously or unconsciously, the more they pick up on tendencies associated with the their partner though nowadays both male and female are not taught on the disparities in language based on their gender.

Today, a lot has changed in the society, but the differences related to gender and language still exists. The society is responsible for directing us to what is not and is appropriate for a male or female thus the resulting differences in male and female language. Parents are role models to their children where boys usually imitate their father’s language and girls their mother’s.

The society categorizes speech types thus proof that differences among genders will continue to exist thus leading to gender stereotypes being created and eventually enforced upon boys and girls.

For example, there are gender differences in the way adults interact and communicate with a child, and in the way, girls and boys are dressed. Parents choose to dress a girl in pink and buy them toys such as dolls whereas boys are dressed in blue and bought toys such as trains and cars, and this affects their language development.

We believe that this have changed and the response that surfaces are related to gender work as this is a topic that needs the right attention. Despite the various discoveries research and society have made, gender differences continue to exist.
