Have you heard of a charity that helps newly wounded veterans? Wounded Warrior Project (also known as WWP), is a charity founded in 2003. The charity’s mission is to help wounded veterans, invisible wounds or physical wounds be honored and empowered. The people who started this project were Steven Nardizzi, Albion Giordano, John Melia, and Jim Melia. WWP has 15 locations in the U.S. and even one in Germany. WWP does many things from helping veterans, getting funds and becoming a known organization, and lets vets tell their stories.
To start, there are a multitude of ways the WWP helps injured veterans. Whether it is physical injuries or mental injuries, there are services that cater to veterans' individual needs. For instance, they have therapy sessions and group sessions. WWP has logged over 42,000 hours of mental help sessions. Some other th
...ings that the WWP highlights doing is bike rides for the soldiers as well as weight loss programs. They also help the physically disabled with troubles they can encounter in their life.
Also, WWP has many ways they get money and noticed by people. WWP holds events in different communities and holds fundraising events. WWP also has many sponsors that support them such as: Acosta Sales & Marketing, AmazonSmile Foundation, Harley-Davidson, NFL, Thrivent, USAA Bank, and Pier 1. Furthemore, the community of WWP holds fundraising events for WWP. WWP is also able to provide benefits and services for veterans and their families from different companies, sporting events, and even food drives.
Lastly, the WWP helps veterans/warriors tell their own story. WWP helps veterans help themselves in a sort of way. For example, with many stories in the news
WWP shows up and often the reporter will interview the veterans. In addition, they will tell how WWP has helped them, their family, and others around him or her. Veterans will also get segments about what they have experienced if they are comfortable with it. For example, many veterans will tell their story which helps relieve their mental state.
In conclusion, Wounded Warrior Project is a heartfelt company striving to help wounded warriors however they can. WWP will help warriors by using mental and physical help. Wounded Warrior Project has many donors who help them fund warriors that need help. Finally, WWP allows hurt veterans to tell their own story, which may be the most important of all. Veterans would even say as some have, “The Wounded Warrior Project provided a hand up instead of a hand out.'
