Introduction
Iliad refers to the great epic poems written by ancient Greek writer known as Homer. The setting of this poem is during the Trojan War, when the city of troy was sieged by the combination of Greek states. Homer was competent to come up with two vigilant poems; the odyssey and the Iliad. The writing work of this author dates back to the 18th century B.C, at this it’s when the Greeks got the skills on how to write after the former existing system of writing disappeared. The supreme of Hebrew had diversities with other gods like Olympians and mythological, their perception was that God believed in chronological order of world as Greeks viewed gods to be manifestation of the disorder in the universe. The whole tone of Homer Iliad is based on this belief. The Olympian
...gods follow their desires to an extent that they can conflict to each other. This reciprocates to shame on human existence being influenced by these actions of gods. The gods are the emblems of the unforeseen forces of existence that human can’t dominate or control totally. There is no much content about Homer, with exception that Greeks had a view he was blind.
Medea is an old Greek tragedy which was written by Euripides. This written work is based on two characters who are Jason and Medea. The plot of this work concentrates on the deeds of Medea, who is princess of barbarian kingdom. First performance of Medea was on 431 BC. Finally the simplicity of this play makes it unique from other tragedies in the region. Many characters have been able to face download fall as they struggle
to achieve their targets. The core cause of all these downfalls is personality of each person. In the following paragraphs we will be able to state and deeply detail the traits and attributes which lead to fall of various characters in the poems. The characters to insist on are Achilles, hector, Medea and Jason.
Achilles
The personal characteristics of Achilles result to his downfall. Even though he is the bravest among the Achaean chieftains, however possess some worse behaviors which cause his failure and miss of his target. He is known to be full of violence and anger, and this results to conflict between the Achilles gods and Agamemnon. My view is that anger and violence can’t solve any problem in a society and has to be eliminated for success and victory. Achilles views the demand of Agamemnon of bringing the girl back and being offered recompense to be invalid, in response to this adamant Agamemnon take over the Briseis who had been detained during the war from Achilles. The anger of Achilles prompts him to kill this enemy using a sword but Athena the goddess gives him a promise for enough compensation. Under the same moods he gives order for the myrmidons to seize from fighting and finally requests the Thetis to convince Zeus to apply defeat and anger on Achaeans to be against the Agamemnon.
Hector
The personal characteristics of hector lead to his down in versatile ways. The aspect of hector ordering old women the mandate to offer sacrifices and the gods of Athena denies them is disaster to his success as the gods have power to influence actions of human beings. Thorough sincere of acknowledging
his failure; for instance when he goes to Paris and seeks for a request to join the battle and tells them that Troy has failed because of his problem and mistakes. The extend of hector going to kill Patroclus who is a best friend of Achilles, makes him fury and plans on how to kill hector. As an attempt to achieve his mission Achilles pursues hector three times around troy before confronting each other direct and finally he is wounded and passes away.
Medea
The downfall of Medea is somehow steered by her characteristics. The provision of oil to Jason which will give him victory is a way of making her father kingdom to fall by giving out the secret to shed it down. In addition she gives Jason the hidden truth on how to win the warriors coming out from the dragon’s teeth. This gives advantage to Jason to keep winning any strong challenge attacking him. The advice of Medea to Jason to use some of men to forcefully get the Golden Fleece he is denied and provides a charm to make the dragons sleep on this operation hour.Medea action of killing her brother and cutting his parts and throwing to sea; this later makes pursuit of her and escapes. Declaring her power to revive men and as a way to convince pelias she enters killing a doing some magic and comes out a frisky lamp. Medea mission is cut down when she gives out a crazy request of being cut and put to pot as a means to restore her youth. Finally, Jason fail to marry Medea but make exchange with kreons daughter all this
betrays the faith she had to him and complete sacrifice.
Jason
The personal characteristics of Jason make him lose success. The adamant request of Golden Fleece with Medea causes the death of his parents from pelias. At the end he doesn’t go back with the fleece but leaves it in a temple, hence this is double loss. Even though Jason in clever way plans to marry kreon’s daughter, the revenge which this lady materialize is heavy and weighty and crushes the life of Jason and the Kreon’s daughter he targets to win as the wife. He should realize not to reveal or make open the decision to marry other madam. Furthermore, he should do it at a far distance. He shouldn’t have thought not to betray a person with a great capability, in fact a former adviser to him.
