The head expressed excitement during assembly, remarking that it was the beginning of a new school year. He stood in the hot and humid theatre, radiating happiness while addressing everyone. He mentioned that by the end of the following year, students would be taking their GCSE exams, which would greatly impact their future professions. Meanwhile, the captain prepared for take-off on a Boeing 747 plane. Mike responded to him, and as the engines roared and the plane lifted off from the ground, it trembled violently. However, before reaching cruising altitude, someone interrupted the captain with a reminder to go to class. Mike felt himself being pushed and pulled until Lee playfully nudged him. Surprised and without considering his surroundings, he blurted out words which caused disbelief among teachers who were staring at him from all

directions in the assembly theater. The headmaster stood there shocked with an expression of pure horror on his face. Bright red with embarrassment, Mike avoided eye contact and focused on looking down at the floor instead. Moments passed in what felt like hours until someone shouted from one corner of theater for Mike Richards to leave immediately. Without bothering to see who said it (definitely not coming from the headmaster), he promptly left without hesitation.
Mike quickly left the theater, uncertain of where he was headed. Eventually, he decided to go to the year head's office as he suspected that the announcement had come from him. Later, Mike realized why everyone was shocked by his actions. Before he spoke, the head had announced that a group of students from St Benedict's school would be joining their year. As a result, Mike

received a relatively lenient punishment: after-school detentions for one week. However, if he made any more mistakes before the end of term, suspension would be imposed and it would also be noted on his school record.

During that week, Mike felt incredibly lonely and got into a major argument with his friends who were initially responsible for getting him in trouble. They denied any involvement and claimed that he was talking to himself while attracting attention from other students. At that time, the teachers at the front of the class were unaware of what was happening.

Mike's refusal to accept any information led to a heated argument and his companions leaving in frustration. Consequently, he became the constant target of torment, particularly during meal times, where he endured derogatory name-calling like 'Billy' and 'reject'. Every time he tried to join a group, he was immediately rejected or forced to find another table. As the week came to an end, Mike grew increasingly furious. Despite already serving four detentions, he had one left. Usually lasting only thirty minutes, this final detention had the potential to be memorable due to Mrs. Sheehan's reputation as the year head.

While serving detention, the boy noticed his classmates eagerly discussing their weekend plans. Simultaneously, Mrs. Sheehan, just outside the detention room, engaged in a secretive conversation with another teacher, possibly plotting against a colleague. The boy had previously heard of such conspiracies among teachers during class when some students pretended to work while others listened in. Unfazed by their surroundings, the teachers would gossip throughout the lesson and occasionally glance around the room with disapproving looks at those not working. If questioned about

it, a student's response would often be "I've had my hand up for ages!" adding to the bothersome noises filling the air along with the constant ticking of the wall clock marking time until release.

As for another individual incarcerated as a terrorist, prison guards forcefully escorted him back into his cell after he had knocked out another inmate. This was not an isolated incident; it occurred multiple times and resulted in his placement in solitary confinement on its third occurrence. The terrorist's arrest took place four years ago following a disastrous bank robbery orchestrated by IRA where his role was simply that of carrying out the robbery.

Despite receiving a tip-off, the police were unaware of the presence of the SAS. The SAS, equipped with advanced gear and specialized training, could be deployed globally anytime. Although the terrorists arrived in a rented Ford Transit, they remained oblivious to the nearby SAS members waiting for them. Unaware of the impending danger, they proceeded towards the bank carrying holstered berettas. Suddenly, gunfire erupted from an undisclosed location where SAS members were stationed, leaving the terrorists bewildered. They soon realized it was too late to react. While some SAS team members sustained injuries from bullets fired by terrorists, their bullet-proof vests prevented fatal wounds. The last surviving terrorist named Dave reluctantly surrendered after his final comrade's death. Faced with death or imprisonment options, he chose imprisonment but now regretted his decision as he found himself living in remorseful circumstances.

Dave couldn't help but compare his current situation to Charles Dickens' famous story "A Christmas Carol," longing for someone to show him a glimpse into his future. Meanwhile, prison guards allowed

Dave to daydream within his cell as a way for him to divert his thoughts from his horrendous crime—a coping mechanism that had potential consequences on his mental well-being. Eventually, one guard reported this incident to the governor.

There was a knock at the door. "Come in," growled the Governor, clearly in a bad mood. The guard entered with an expression of complete concern, anticipating the Governor's response. The Governor instantly recognized the guard's worried face and asked, "What's the matter with you?" "Dave Sherlock has just attacked another prisoner," the guard quickly relayed, feeling less anxious now that he had informed the Governor. All that remained was to see how the Governor would react.
