What is Russian?
Russian culture is one of the most diverse and vibrant cultures in the world, with a long and fascinating history. Russia has seen numerous empires, political systems, religions and traditions come and go. This has made Russian culture unique and distinct from other countries.Russian culture is deeply rooted in its Orthodox Christian faith, which dates back to the 10th century when Christianity was officially adopted as the state religion by prince Vladimir I of Kiev. The traditional Russian Orthodox Church still plays a major role in society today, with many people attending church services on a regular basis. Other religions are also present in Russia such as Islam, Judaism and Buddhism. Traditional Russian values such as family loyalty, respect for elders and hard work remain strong in this country today. Russia is home to some of the world’s most famous art movements such as Suprematism, Constructivism and Non-Objective Art which were all born out of its revolutionary period during early 20th century when artists wanted to break away from traditional art forms like Realism or Academicism that had been popular up until then. This period gave rise to some of Russia’s most famous painters like Wassily Kandinsky or Kazimir Malevich who both helped define modern art around the world with their abstract works.Music is an important part of Russian culture too; it consists mainly of folk music genres such as Cossack songs or balalaika melodies but there are other popular styles like classical music which have been influenced by composers like Tchaikovsky or Rachmaninoff who wrote some of their best works while living in Russia during 19th century Romanticism period. Dance performances are also very popular among Russians; ballet performances have become synonymous with Russian culture due to its popularity during Soviet times when ballet was used to promote propaganda for communist ideals through performances like ËśSpartacus’ ballet by Yuri Grigorovich or ËśSwan Lake’ choreographed by Marius Petipa which became classic works that still continue being performed until today.
