What is Ohio State University?
Ohio State University (OSU) is a world-renowned public research university located in Columbus, Ohio. Established in 1870, it is the largest university in the United States by enrollment and offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate degree programs to over 80,000 students. The main campus spans more than 1,700 acres and includes extensive facilities such as the famed Ohio Stadium, a student union building with nearly 1 million square feet of space, and more than 60 residence halls. The university also has regional campuses throughout Ohio as well as a medical center in Cleveland. OSU has an impressive academic reputation driven by its commitment to excellence in teaching and research. OSU ranks highly among top universities for number of Nobel laureates produced (10), Rhodes scholars (48), Fulbright scholars (131), National Academy of Science members (213), and Carnegie Fellowships (83). In addition to its strong academic offerings, OSU has some of the top athletic programs in the country including football, basketball, baseball/softball and track & field teams that regularly compete for national championships.
