What is High Self Monitors?
High self-monitors are individuals who take the environment into account before making decisions and changing their behavior. They are keenly aware of how they are perceived by others and will adjust their behavior accordingly in order to gain approval or fit in. High self-monitors strive to present themselves as they believe others desire them to appear, often without considering whether these norms or expectations match their own values and beliefs.High self-monitoring can be beneficial in many situations, such as when seeking employment or engaging in professional networking. By being able to read a room early on, those with high self monitoring skills can quickly adjust their approach depending on the audience and situation. This may include altering speech patterns, body language, dress code, etc., all depending on what is expected from them in that particular setting. High self monitors also excel at quickly recognizing relationships between people within a group setting determining which person is the leader or most influential allowing them to adapt more effectively when interacting with that group of people. Unfortunately high self monitoring can also lead to negative consequences such as difficulty forming meaningful relationships with others due to constantly changing behavior based on external factors rather than internal motivations; additionally it may prevent an individual from developing his/her own set of values and beliefs since they will always prioritize external pressures instead of personal desires when making decisions. To successfully use high self monitoring skills one must be aware of its limitations while working towards balancing both internal and external influences when making important choices and forming relationships with other people.
