What is Educational Technology?

Additionally, educational technologies enable teachers to communicate with their students more efficiently using email or instant messaging services. Furthermore, these technologies allow for a more personalized approach to instruction by allowing educators to tailor specific lessons according to the needs of each student. One example of an educational technology that has proven successful is the flipped classroom model where students watch pre-recorded lectures prior to class time so they can come prepared with questions that they have already encountered while completing the lecture material at home on their own time. This allows instructors more time during physical class sessions to address any misconceptions or provide additional support as needed.. In addition, this same model also encourages self-directed learning which helps foster creative problem solving skills and greater engagement from learners who might otherwise be too intimidated by a traditional teacher/student setting.
