What is Alexander The Great?
Alexander the Great, born in 356 BC in Pella, Greece, is remembered as one of the greatest rulers in history. He was a charismatic leader who forged an impressive empire that spanned from Greece to India. During his short reign of 13 years, Alexander accomplished more than most could achieve in a lifetime. His military victories and shrewd political decisions allowed him to build an empire unlike any other before it.Alexander was tutored by Aristotle, and he learned much about politics and strategy at a young age. By the time he became king of Macedonia at the age of 20, he had already started forming plans for world domination. Through brilliant tactics and unwavering courage on the battlefields of Asia Minor and Persia, Alexander expanded his domain to include much of modern-day Turkey, Iran and Iraq. He then set his sights on India; with an army made up mostly of Macedonians, Persians and Greeks he crossed through harsh terrain towards India’s northern borderlands .Through skillful negotiations with Indian rulers along the way , Alexander eventually reached India’s eastern coast in 326 Bc after conquering much of its interior. Alexander will always be remembered for his military conquests; however , it was also his tactical political decisions which ensured that his empire would continue after him. He encouraged cultural exchange between Greek colonists throughout Asia Minor and native populations , allowing them to work together to build cities such as Alexandria which are still thriving today. In addition , he united all citizens under a single administrative system based on both Greek laws as well as local customs. This ensured that people living under this system were treated fairly regardless of their background or ethnicity. Alexander the Great’s legacy lives on until this day ; despite having only ruled for thirteen short years , Alexander left behind an incredible legacy which shaped future generations. His genius business acumen , masterful strategic planning abilities , unwavering courage and passion for expanding knowledge is something we can still admire today .
