Whenever the term "Fortune 500" is brought up, I am left with numerous inquiries regarding the factors that drive these companies to achieve tremendous success. Could it be a blend of careful planning, daring choices, and calculated risks? Or perhaps it is the result of well-crafted strategies and impeccable implementation? Without a doubt, all these elements are crucial. Nevertheless, what truly aids in the development of these strategies?
In my experience at Reliance Industries Ltd (Retail division), a Fortune 500 conglomerate, I learned the importance of having a foundational element for companies to base their strategies on. That key element is 'Information'. Companies utilize raw data by transforming it into meaningful information and offering analytical support, which plays a vital role in gaining a competitive advantage over competitors.
The current trend in Business Intelligence (81) is shifting from reporting intelligent dat
...a to higher level analytics. This includes predictive modeling and identifying hidden patterns by combining statistics and artificial intelligence with database management. At Reliance, I was involved in the process of gathering massive transaction data from various sources and strategically storing it.
During this process, I familiarized myself with SAP BE and solidified my understanding of warehousing concepts. In addition, my knowledge of SQL expanded as I learned techniques to improve query efficiency for quick extraction of data using mining algorithms, particularly the association rule for identifying buying patterns. Pattern recognition was important in efficiently profiling customers and determining which customer groups to target with promotion campaigns based on their buying patterns.
By harnessing the power of extracting relevant information, we successfully monitored operations in all stores throughout the country. This involved tasks suc
as fraud detection, vendor oversight, assortment management, and distribution and logistics organization. My time at Reliance was a transformative experience that unveiled my potential in Business Analytics, which demands a blend of analytical reasoning, logical thinking, and technical skills.
By obtaining a master's degree in Information Systems with a concentration in Bal, I will enhance my skills and capabilities, which will equip me for my desired profession as a Business Analyst. During my three-year tenure at the esteemed 'Darkness J. Shanghai College of Engineering', I pursued diverse subjects including Database Management Systems, Advanced Database Management Systems, Data Warehouse and Mining, along with programming languages like Java, C, C++, and SQL.

Projects in my undergraduate curriculum have helped me strengthen concepts and experiment. In my third year, my team and I created an Online Project Consent Portal. This portal allows students to upload projects on the website for assessment by faculty. Feedback is then transferred to the students' accounts. The project was mainly Java-based using Jayvee and involved applications of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This experience greatly improved my skills in Java and web design.
Moreover, my final year project is centered around creating a messaging-based automatic ticketing vending system for the Iambi Suburban Railways (MS). The objective of this project is to eliminate the inconvenience of long queues for ticket issuance, which is a significant disadvantage currently. Rather than traditional tickets, the project proposes issuing tickets through SMS messages. Its development will require involvement from mobile computing, database management systems, and distributed computing domains. Once successfully completed, we plan to seek approval from the Indian railways to implement the
system in practice.
