I am seeking admission to the MSc program in Mathematical Trading and Finance because I aspire to pursue a career in the field of mathematical finance. Specifically, I am fascinated by the utilization of mathematical techniques across diverse finance domains. To fully comprehend and address these intricacies, I believe it is crucial for me to have a solid foundation in advanced mathematics and to gain a comprehensive understanding of finance.
Due to my educational background, I possess the necessary qualities for this demanding profession. My Engineering graduation has provided me with a solid foundation in Mathematics and Computer Programming. During my studies, I had the opportunity to work on a project with Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), where I gained real-world experience in programming using C and Unix. Upon completing my graduate degree, I joined Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as an Assistant Systems Engineer. Following an intensive 3-month training program focused on software methodology and management skills, I became part of a team responsible for building a Trading System for a Stock Exchange. In this role, I played a significant part in comprehending and analyzing project requirements, designing and implementing the product, marketing it effectively, and maintaining strong customer relations.
Throughout these experiences at TCS, my interest in Finance grew exponentially as I familiarized myself with various financial markets and instruments such as equities, equity-based derivatives commodities ,and index derivatives.Furthermore, I obtained valuable knowledge about the progression of Broker end Front Office systems while working on
project for a well-known brokerage firm at that time. While stationed at the client site, I witnessed firsthand how derivatives greatly enhanced portfolio performance and decreased risk across different portfolios. This experience allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of risk models and structured financial products. It emphasized the significance of mathematics and programming in the Finance industry, reaffirming my conviction that applying my technical expertise in finance would be fulfilling. Ultimately, this opportunity solidified my ambitions in pursuing a career in risk management.
I believe that the MSc program in Mathematical Trading and Finance at Cass University is well-organized as it offers a good mix of theory and practical application. The presence of Bloomberg sponsored dealing rooms will provide me with numerous opportunities to solve real-world problems using my knowledge.
Due to alignment between my personal and professional interests, my objective is to gain a master's degree and work as a financial risk modeller with a top financial institution. Additionally, during my personal time, I intend to prepare for a PhD in the field of mathematical finance.
