in the 1820's the first picture or photograph was produced by this French inventor. (the picture was later accidentally destroyed.)

in 1829 Niepce formed a partnership with the French artist and when Niepce died he left his notes to Daguerre. He used the notes and his own experiments to discover that is he exposed silver to iodine vapor before light and then to mercury he could create an image.

putting the image in a salt bath fixed (to stop the chemicals from keeping on reacting and ruining the image) the image.

invented the calotype

also known as the Talbotype process, which used paper coated with silver iodine. This process involved sensitizing paper with a silver salt solutions and exposing it to light. This created a negative image of the object or person which could then be used to create contraceptives of the positive. Calotype allows multiple positive prints to be made but the quality wasn't' as good.

designed a bellows camera in 1847 that made focusing on the subject easier. He also used interchangeable backgrounds in the photographs that he took and he began retouching the negatives to reduce or eliminate any imperfections.

in 1871 he developed a way to use gelatin instead of glass for the negatives.

in 1884 he created a dry gel on paper or what we think of as film.

introduced in 1900-1901 cameras were available to the mass market. They were meant for anyone to use. 1950's they sold motion picture cameras.

early 1900s he was thinking about another invention that would change the shape of photography: the 35mm film.

the Polaroid came out

used filters to create three monochrome images (one photograph in red, blue, and green). When projected together with three different lanterns, the image would return to a more natural color image in the 1860's.

was a color still film that used a subtractive process in 1935 by Kodak.

is the first commercially available digital camera which entered the market in 1990. The images could be downloaded from the camera to a computer.

any photography in which the photographer is paid for images that were not produced as works of art.

are those in which the used pays a one-time fee for the image. The user can use the image for as long as they like after they pay the license fee, although there may be limited to how many reproductions can be made of the image.

are those in which the price of the license is determined by the use of the image.
