What is Digital Photography?

Digital photography is a type of photography that uses digital technology to capture and store images. In digital photography, the image sensor is exposed to light and captures an image which is then converted into a digital file. Digital photography has become popular in recent years due to its convenience and affordability.The main advantage of digital photography over traditional film photography is the ability to quickly review images on a computer or printer. This allows photographers to instantly make adjustments, allowing them to get better results with less effort. Additionally, since digital files are smaller than traditional film prints, they can be easily transferred and stored electronically with ease. Furthermore, with the help of software programs, users can edit photos quickly without having to go through the time-consuming process of developing prints in darkrooms or on photographic paper. Finally, since no physical prints are created when shooting digitally, there’s no need for costly materials like chemicals or paper which saves money in the long run. Although there are some advantages to using digital cameras compared to traditional camera types like SLRs (single lens reflex) or medium format cameras, they also have some drawbacks as well such as higher noise levels from sensors that aren’t as sensitive as those used by professional photographers and limited dynamic range due to small sensor sizes compared larger format cameras. Additionally, since files must be compressed for storage space before being viewed on a computer screen or printed out onto photographic paper quality can suffer depending on how much compression was applied during processing from RAW files into JPEGs or other formats before transfer/editing/viewing/printing. Despite these drawbacks however many professional photographers still use digital cameras because of their portability and speed when shooting large volumes of images for commercial projects such as wedding ceremonies or sporting events where quick turnaround times are necessary for clients who need results immediately after completion without waiting days for photographs sent via mail services etc. Digital Cameras also allow users more control over their final product by allowing them access post-processing tools which allow manipulation of color temperature contrast brightness white balance etc. all helping create unique looks not achievable through film based processes alone.
