Intro
Is it possible that when Queen Elizabeth granted knighthood to Paul McCartney, a member of the Beatles, in March 1997, the recipient of such a significant accolade was actually an impostor?
Who are the Beatles? :
i. The Beatles were a group of English rock musicians, including John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Star. They started their music journey by performing in Liverpool's pubs.
And, in short, the band becomes one of the greatest and most influential musical acts in history.
Thesis
However, today I am not here to discuss the extraordinary success of the Beatles. Instead, my purpose is to explain an intriguing concept that originated from the immensely popular English rock stars. To provide some background on this topic, let me begin by mentioning
...the conspiracy surrounding Paul McCartney's Death. This theory emerged in 1969 when a radio station received a call from a listener who discussed various clues hidden within the Beatles' work, all indicating the demise of a significant individual. The disc jockey at that time was naturally skeptical but upon further investigation, he came across a college thesis paper that largely supported the story narrated by the anonymous caller.
The radio personality went on to disclose the connections on the air, ultimately causing a widespread panic. Today, this conspiracy regarding Paul McCartney’s death is one of the biggest in the music industry. In this discussion, I will explore the different types of evidence that sparked the conspiracy, including clues hidden within album artwork and lyrics. Additionally, I will address the signs present on my shirt and how various groups were impacted by the
event.
Evidence in Album Artwork
According to Skrabut (April), many conspirators believe that the initial hints of Paul’s demise can be found on the album "Yesterday… and Today." In this album, all four Beatles are gathered around a luggage chest with Paul sitting inside, giving the impression of a makeshift coffin. Furthermore, in the album "I am the Walrus," Paul is depicted dressed as a walrus.
The Walrus is a symbol for death in Nordic-Viking culture. On the back of the Sgt. Peppers lonely album, all the members are standing but Paul is the only one with his back to the camera. Meanwhile, George Harrison is pointing at the first line of the song “She’s Leaving Home.”
Evidence in Lyrics
The lyrics of the song “She’s Leaving Home” contain a hidden clue.
The opening line of the song "A Day in the Life" states "Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins," which is peculiar as it aligns with Paul's alleged death time, Wednesday, November 11th at 5am. According to the Time Magazine Article ("Conspiracy theories: paul," 2012), this song plays a significant part in the conspiracy surrounding Paul. John Lennon's lyrics, "He blew his mind out in a car," are believed by many to be referring to Paul.
When played backwards, a certain section of the song says, "Paul is a dead man, miss him miss him miss him." These clues encrypted within song lyrics are all useful in the development of an argument for the death of Paul McCartney.
Evidence in Visual
Sgt.
According to the 2012 article "Beatles conspiracy," the album most connected to the hints about Paul's death was Lonely Peppers. In this
album, there are several clues that suggest his demise. For instance, if you examine my shirt closely, you will notice that when the Bass Drum is divided in half, it shows the numbers 1, one, and IX, which indicate his death. Additionally, a diamond shape appears on the album cover, directly pointing at Paul. Moreover, conspiracy theorists believe that the patch on Paul's arm with the letters OPD stands for Officially Pronounced Dead.
Paul may be using a mustache to hide plastic surgery scars on his lookalike, thus improving his overall appearance. This had a significant impact on society and affected different groups of people. According to Kendall (1998), Beatles fans became highly interested in the conspiracy and meticulously searched through multiple Beatles albums for clues. Ironically, this actually made the Beatles even more popular. Additionally, lesser-known rock bands at that time like Billy Shears and the All Americans' "Brother Paul" and Werbley Finster's "So Long Paul," immediately faced consequences in the music industry because of this event.
viii. Despite not giving extensive interviews to the press regarding this incident, there are available records of The Beatles' thoughts. According to the online database "The Beatles interviews" (1997), Paul addressed the rumors surrounding his death by stating, "Do I look dead? I am in perfect health. I am alive and well, despite concerns about my supposed demise. However, even if I were deceased, I would be unaware of it."
"ix. The remaining members followed the pattern of denial, however, the one interesting comment made by John Lennon was that it is "an interesting plug for Abbey Road."
Conclusion
So, you decide! On November 9th, 1966, did James Paul
McCartney, a former Beatle, die in an Aston Martin accident after leaving Apple Recording Studios? Did the accident happen at approximately five-o'clock in the morning? Did he leave Apple Studios after an argument with the rest of the Beatles? Did the rest of the Beatles organize a cover-up to avoid detection from the public? You have all just been informed of the elaborate string of clues that caused the creation of the conspiracy of Paul McCartney's Death, as well as how the conspiracy affected the people of the time. So now you can decide.
It is your decision whether the queen rewarded the correct individual or not.
