-Born and raised in the RGV in Edinburg. I first became interested in medicine in the 8th grade, when our teacher's husband, who was a pharmacist, came to tell us about his job. I applied to a magnet hs, South Texas High for Health Professions, and was accepted. It was there where my interest for the healthcare field developed. I enjoyed the health science courses I took. I remember sitting through 1.5 hr lectures absorbing every last iota of information. I recall going home so excited to tell my parents what I had just learned about the body systems. I was always surprised about how much information I retained. I transferred to a Edinburg North High School, where my passion for science was cultivated by my pre-AP chemistry instructor, Mr. Medrano
