Adolescents face many problems among them those concerning body image.

How they appear to the outside world matters a lot. The world is quite judgmental as to who is pretty and who is ugly. Because of esteem issues affecting teenagers and young adults, due to how the world will view how they look, they have gone way too far to better the way they look like. Some have tried outrageously alarming things just for an “appealing body image”. Some have tried cosmetic, plastic surgeries of which some have gone bad, and either killed them or even made them look more hideous (Hansen et al, 2008).

Many teenagers think becoming slim or thin is the thing that the world wants. The fear or becoming fat or the thought that they are fat when they are actually not has had devastating consequences. Anorexia Buli

Anorexia bulimia affects girls mainly and is a serious threat to being immune compromised. It is psychological and psychotherapy is often employed in its management. Suicide is also another problem and it is has several causes; from mere bullying at school to rejection by friends or family or even not achieving a goal. Those who attempt to or commit suicide often have this feeling of being worthless for life. Either because someone told them so or they did not get what they want.

will thing life cannot go on and they end up committing suicide (Hansen et al, 2008). It is vital to have counseling sessions for adolescents to let them know that everyone is also going through their struggles. If a friend with these problems approached me, I would advise them that it is not the end of everything. They are definitely talented at one thing or another and the way they look on the outside does not depict what is on the inside. The real beauty lies within!
