Even though he had serious injuries, he did not die in the hospital. Day after day he looked forward to seeing Daisy, who was his first thought when he opened his eyes in the morning and his last thought when he closed his eyes in the evening. He made countless phone calls but could not find Daisy. He tried in every way to get a tidbit of information about Daisy, but to no avail. Is it Daisy, he thought, does she not care? No, she doesn’t We used to be so sweet. Something must have kept her from coming to see me. But when on earth is she coming? Gatsby asked every time he looked out of the window. Leave
...s yellow, snow fell, banana red, cherry green. Gatsby was still thinking about Daisy. He looked for her everywhere.
There was so much ice and snow that not even an Eskimo could see it. Gatsby had spent all his savings, his old friends had long since left him, and he was on the streets. One fall, the wind picked up a few yellow leaves. Gatsby looked through them and thought the girl in the limousine he had just passed looked like Daisy. Gatsby lifted his legs and caught up with him
The car stopped. The window rolled down and Gatsby finally saw the Daisy he was talking about. She was still so beautiful.
Daisy, now unable to recognize the weather-beaten Gatsby, asked, 'Sir, are you all right?'
Gatsby was about to answer when he saw Tom in the car. Tom was dressed to the nines and looked at him with pride. Gatsby's ego and inferiority rose simultaneously. He nodded to Daisy and left. Gatsby stared at the car as it drove away. He thought: Now I don't deserve her. So he left her alone. Gatsby sat down in a clean place in the street, took a cigarette from his pocket, and lit it.
He remembered that a few years ago, when he was hospitalized with neutron bomb, the servant had called Daisy who was traveling in Italy. But the servant told him that Miss Daisy said she was too busy to answer the phone, and wished Gatsby a speedy recovery before visiting him. Gatsby smiled a little. She still cares about me, Gatsby thought.
After one month, Daisy came to visit Gatsby, and his
injuries was almost cured. When Gatsby saw Daisy, his tears rolled down without thinking. The sun was shining, and the wind was so soft. It seemed that all his diligence was worthwhile. Gatsby knew that Tom betrayed Daisy and engaged with another woman from Daisy. With the encouragement of Daisy, Gatsby earned money again. He lived in a happy life with Daisy.
