Unfortunately some insurance will cover little if any of what is considered alternative health and therapy, however, whatever David might be required to pay out of pocket would not be a hardship for him. This therapy would be well worth any cost David would expend to help him recognize the self-defeating thoughts that are holding him back and develop strategies for dealing with those thoughts that lead to anger. Patients learn strategies to better cope with difficult life situations, positively resolve conflicts in relationships, deal with grief more effectively, mentally handle emotional stress caused by illness, and overcome physical symptoms. Social Interaction Theory the “actor” is a decision-maker whose choices are directed by the expected rewards, cost, and probabilities of obtaining different outcomes. Ok so there is a percentage of aggressive behavior that likely can be attributed to this theory as well. The Excitation Transfer Theory asserts that if two arousing events are separated by a short amount of time, arousal from the first event may be misattributed to the second event. I would argue that Anderson and Bushman’s General Aggression Model best explains aggression by integrating all of these theories into cohesion. This model best explains aggressive acts that are based on multiple motives, both instrumental and affect-based aggression. It aids in the development of more comprehensive interventions designed to treat individuals who are chronically aggressive. Many current and commonly used treatments fail because they focus on only one specific type of aggression or use only one mini theoretical approach to treatment. This theory provides broader insights into child rearing and development issues, enabling parents, teachers and public policy makers to make better decisions in developing treatment plans for children. Anderson and Bushman said it well “The General Aggression Model is “transforming a heap of stones into a house”. (Anderson & Bushman)
