Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) is the ability of certain individuals to access mental powers that others do not have. A fascinating occurrence often linked to ESP is when someone suddenly thinks of a long-lost friend, and then receives a phone call from that very friend. The term "ESP" was coined by Sir Richard Burton in 1870 and was later popularized by Dr., a French researcher.
In 1892, Paul Joire coined the term ESP to refer to the ability of individuals who were hypnotized or in a trance state to perceive things externally without using their ordinary senses. Dr. Rudolph Tischner, an ophthalmologist in Munich, later used ESP in the 1920s to describe the "externalization of sensibility." During the 1930s, J. B. Rhine, an American parapsychologist, further popularized the term to encompass psychic phenomena that resembled sensory functions. Rhine was one of the
...first parapsychologists to conduct laboratory tests on ESP phenomena.
Extra Sensory Perception, or ESP, is the ability to perceive thoughts, impressions, hunches, and energy patterns beyond our typical sensory perceptions. It grants a heightened awareness beyond what our eyes, ears, nose, fingers, and tongue can detect. In certain circles, it is commonly known as the sixth sense. Although some individuals have developed ESP to a high degree, it is a capacity that every person possesses. This misconception has led to the belief that only specific individuals possess ESP. However, we all fall into the category of being sensitive to these abilities.
Everyday in all circumstances we constantly respond to it. This is the most important of all senses for it is the response to life. The claims for ESP fall into four general categories:
1. Telepathy- Th
word "Telepathy" has been derived from the words "tele" meaning "distance" and "pathy" meaning "feeling." So Telepathy actually means getting feelings through a distance. To elaborate, Telepathy is the communication between two minds, separated over a distance, without the use of the five known senses.
2. Clairvoyance- meaning clear vision in French.
One who possesses this ability is known as a clairvoyant and uses this power to obtain information about various things such as a person, a place, an object, or an event.
3. Precognition – to see beyond. Precognition is linked with Time Travel as the concept of linear time does not exist beyond the physical level of consciousness. Prophets, seers, visionaries, psychics, among others have been using this skill since the beginning of time. It's like anything else, once it activates, you are free to access it whenever, and most people do.
4. Psycho kinesis-
The term psychokinesis, also known as telekinesis (abbreviated PK and TK), coined by Henry Holt, refers to the direct influence of mind on a physical system that cannot be entirely explained by any known physical energy. Psychokinesis examples include distorting or moving an object and influencing the output of a random number generator. Each person primarily lives by one personality type and partly by the other three. Understanding this allows us to comprehend ourselves and those around us more thoroughly.
