The narrative of Les Miserables centers around Jean Valjean, also known as Prisoner 24601. Valjean faces a severe 19-year sentence for the crime of bread theft. Despite breaking his parole, Valjean undergoes a profound transformation after a humble bishop profoundly impacts him. Consequently, he assumes a new identity and embarks on a fresh chapter in his life. Eventually, Valjean becomes the compassionate mayor of a town and takes charge of overseeing a factory. Unfortunately, this newfound existence is jeopardized when police inspector Javert, the sole individual capable of dismantling it, is assigned to the same town where Valjean has settled.

Meanwhile, a factory worker named Fantine finds herself homeless despite needing money for her young daughter, Cosette. When Valjean encounters the destitute and dying Fantine in a street collision, he makes a heartfelt vow to car

e for Cosette. This promise gives Valjean's life newfound purpose and significance, but Javert's pursuit threatens to undo everything.

The story's focus changes to a love triangle involving Cosette, Marius (a student involved in revolution), and Eponine (the innkeeper's daughter and a street girl). It showcases the challenges faced in France during the late 19th century, revealing social inequality. The narrative portrays the difficult realities, sacrifices, and injustices experienced by people during that era. What I admire most about the film is Valjean's ability to overcome his obstacles over time and start fresh.

I am particularly drawn to the scene in which Valjean promises Fantine that he will care for Cosette. The sincerity in Valjean's expression when making this promise is palpable. I am also captivated by the scenes where Valjean selflessly helps others, without

expecting anything in return. For instance, when he rescues a man trapped under a carriage, or when he saves Maurice's life by tending to his gunshot wound in the barricade. Valjean is truly a remarkable individual with a compassionate heart. Despite facing various hardships, he always manages to fulfill every demand and instead of surrendering, his character only grows stronger.

I have a great admiration for the characters in the story due to their skilled portrayal of their roles and ability to evoke genuine emotions through their dialogue. The authenticity of each character deeply moves me as a viewer. Additionally, the movie highlights Valjean's unwavering faith in God. However, my disapproval intensifies during the scene at the barricade where innocent people are ruthlessly killed by the army. It is evident that those at the barricade are solely fighting for freedom and equal rights.

The government's negligence in allowing them to clarify could have averted the murder. The tragic shooting of the young boy deeply impacted me; he was entirely guiltless and should not have been entangled in such brutality. Instead, he should have been enjoying his company with peers of his own age rather than being associated with the revolutionary group. In general, it is a gripping tale brimming with anticipation. Following every scene, I eagerly anticipate what will unfold next as the characters venture into uncharted territories.

The narrative enlightens me about the unfairness and prejudice prevalent in society. It serves as a reminder to refrain from making judgments without understanding someone's complete background, as they might possess a concealed compassionate nature. Always remember that where there is existence, hope also

exists. One should not allow their past to hinder their happiness because despite a tumultuous history, progress can still be made towards building a better life.
