On August 3, 2009 Burress was indicted by the grand jury on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and a single count of reckless endangerment in the second degree. Both charges are felonies. Burress accepted a plea deal that would put him in prison for two years with an additional two years of surpervised release. In January 2010 and August 2010, Burress applied for and was denied a work release from prison. Burress may be released in early 2011, with time off for good behavior.

The moral that I have learned from the Burress incident is that there are consequences for all of your actions be it negative or postive. Also I have learned that no one is above the law; even though you are famous and wealthy you can suffer the same consequences for breaking the law as a average person. Burress not only let down his teammates but also let down his fans. And he also set a terrible example for young people who admire him. Hopefully Burress has learned a valuable lesson ; he lost his freedom and the admiration of his fans. I also hope that in the near future Burress would use better judgement.
