Also when he was thirteen he began to smoke Marijuana and when he was fourteen he began drinking alcohol. When he was seventeen, he heavily use of marijuana and abused alcohol heavily. At the age of fourteen he began to use some amphetamines or otherwise known as speed and also used LSD at sixteen. By the time he left the refugees and began living with Ezold and P he was addicted to the use of alcohol and well addicted to using LSD. These social, childhood and genetic factors show the reasons why Mr Farrell would have committed this crime.

Reporting and the investigation of the crime:

The police have investigated and found that Mr Farrell and his associates Ezold and P have brutally bashed the decreased Liam Salter Tully and have found him at a creek unconscious, drowned and then passed away. Role of Court:

When the trial commenced the accused pleaded not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter. He made it plain by his counsel that he admitted having done the act causing the death of the deceased. As a result the only live issue at the trial was whether when he killed the deceased the offender intended to kill him or do him really serious injury. The circumstance put forward as raising a reasonable doubt about that intent was the effect upon the offender of the alcohol and the LSD he had taken. The jury rejected the defence contention. Plea:

The offender, Jason Edward Gordon Farrell, has been found guilty by a jury of the murder on 15 or 16 November 2000 at Coniston of Liam Salter-Tully.

Factors that affect the sentencing decision: Mr Farrell had a terrible past history of using drugs and under the influence of alcohol at a young age, plus also at that age his parents used violence against him and they also separated causing him pain and depression. These factors might have caused Mr Farrell to commit this crime of murder.

Penalties: Jason Edward Gordon Farrell was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of eighteen years commencing on 19th of November 2000 to the 18th of November 2018. And a non-parole period of thirteen years six months which will expire on

18 May 2014. Mr Farrell will be eligible for release on parole on that day.
