Proving corrupt influence often entails demonstrating that the recipient of the bribe provided preferential treatment or broke rules in favor of the bribe-payer. This may involve taking extraordinary actions to aid the bribe-payer or allowing them to defraud an agency or company.
Every member of any BEM or IEM must adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct and Professional Conduct Regulations when engaged or employed in an advisory or consultant capacity. They are prohibited from accepting any trade commission, discounts, allowances, or indirect profit related to their work. However, Mr X is clearly guilty of accepting an offer from Mr Z, which is detrimental to the industry's reputation. This kind of behavior can lead to cost-cutting measures by contractors who use cheap materials without any hesitation, ultimately endangering the integrity of structures. Cracks or even collapses may occur as a result, impacting us as users.
