However, Euro Disney, which opened in France in 1992 as the company's second international Disneyland, deviated from this pattern. Despite the previous success of their first international Disneyland in Tokyo, Japan, Euro Disney encountered challenges after its opening on April 12, 1992. The park was built within its budget of $4.4 billion and is situated in Marne-la-Vallee, France – an area that is one-fifth the size of Paris and only 20 miles to the west.
