The most important thing to me when shopping is not the things I buy, but what I get for my money. There are many things to keep in mind as I shop. I have to think of the things I need, if I’m shopping wisely and not get caught up in all of the TV ads and if I am within my budget. But with a little focus and discipline, I know I can do it. After all, I come from a long line of generations before me that have done just that. Most importantly, are the things I need. There are my food, bath products, clothes and school supplies.

alth. My bath products are for maintaining good hygiene, which helps with my health and my self esteem. And last, my school supplies for a good education. So many times I have to stay focused on what is on my list and not get caught up in all of the TV ads. There are so many out there, even on radio and in the store, that my emotions can run away with me and direct me exactly where the advertiser wanted me to go; right to their products.

It’s so exciting to see new and fun things that come out in the stores, that it’s easy to forget what I came for in the first place. So I have to be smart and remind myself I can always look at it another time. That’s when I take a

deep breath, walk away and go back to my list. As always, I must remember to stay within my budget. Even though it’s not always easy, it is possible. There are so many dollars I can spend and not a cent more. So, with that in mind, I look for my items at the lowest possible price.

There are some things I have to spend more money on because I know that the quality is where the value is. Unfortunately, I learned that lesson the hard way. It is just a matter of putting the important things first and sometimes there is a little left over for a nice surprise or to save for that special something. Being a smart shopper, like anything else, is an acquired skill. I just remind myself in my own way to get the things I need, don’t get caught up in all of the TV ads and stay within my budget. Every once in a while, I get a great thing at a fabulous price and it makes it all worth the effort.
