The aim of the experiment was to investigate the effects of crushed and uncrushed fertilizers on the growth of Brassier ARPA, specifically the number of leaves produced and stem height. Measurements of stem length and leaf count were taken weekly and recorded in a log.

It was hypothesized that crushed fertilizer would result in a higher leaf count and longer stem length.

The experiment involved placing quad wicks in each section of two Styrofoam planting quads. Potting soil was added to fill each section to the top. A seed was dropped into each section and gently pressed down with the index finger.

In each Styrofoam planting quad, two sections were planted with uncrushed 14-14-14 NP fertilizer beads, and the other two sections were planted with crushed 14-14-14 NP fertilizer

beads. Each fertilizer bead was pressed down into the soil with the index finger. An anti-algal square is added to the plastic water container with wick cloth which was used to water the plant daily.

Each week for four weeks, the Brassier ARPA stems were measured in centimeters with a Euler and the number of leaves were counted. Then, the new stem height and production of leaves were logged into a notebook. Microsoft Excel was used to input the logged information over the four weeks. Microsoft Excel averaged and sorted out the weekly results of the Brassier ARPA. Two graphs were created from excel. One graph stating the effects of stem height from the uncrushed and crushed fertilizer bed. The second graph stating the effects of uncrushed and crushed fertilizer beads on the amount of leaves produced.

produced were collected. Each week, both graphs had a near consistent gain in both stem height and amount of leaves produced. Throughout the four weeks, both graphs had results from both uncrushed pellets, but only one crushed pellet had any results at all.

Discussion: Both of the hypotheses created at the beginning of the experiment were wrong. The hypothesis stated that the crushed pellets would provide more stem height and more leaves being produced.

With the idea that crushed fertilizer pellets would deliver more nutrients to the plants than the uncrushed fertilizer pellets, it was found that the uncrushed pellet significantly produced more stem height and leaves than the crushed pellet. Both the uncrushed pellets and one of the crushed pellets exhibited consistent week by week results. However, the crushed pellets showed significantly lower stem height and leaf production compared to the uncrushed pellets. It is possible that certain factors influenced the reliability of the data. To ensure accurate results, each plant and fertilizer should be assigned their own container instead of dividing the Styrofoam boxes into quadrants.
