After traveling through the rainy weather and exploring all corners of the mountain, we couldn’t help but have a crazy feeling about how amazing the whole trip was. The term ‘Crazy’ has been adversely stretched to have more than one or two meanings which are dependent on the context in which it’s used. For instance, the term has changed in its initial meaning over time is more to the term other than being associated with being diseased or behaving in unsound mind. ("Online Etymology Dictionary"). Crazy can be used as an adjective which describes something or someone with flaws and cracks which can be referenced to those on an insane person. Similarly, crazy can be defined in an informal way in that one is crazy because he or she is very excited, foolish or very enthusiastic. An

example of such an instance is used in a sentence to describe one’s passion for something such as “He is crazy about movies”.

Crazy can be paired with other words and through the new addition; the initial meaning may ultimately change. For example crazy can be used to describe infatuation by adding the word ‘about’ after it. If a boy is crazy about a girl, then it means that he is infatuated with her. An addition of the word ‘to’ immediately after the adjective brings out another meaning of anxiety and impatience. An example in the sentence is that Jade was crazy to try the new dress. Crazy can also be used to describe a distinction of being unusual or bizarre such as ‘she always wears crazy shoes’.

In that context, the word crazy means that the female in questio

wears shoes different and unusual from the rest of the females. Additionally, crazy can be used to describe a quality or behaviour that is unusual and an example in a sentence can be ‘He made crazy moves during his performance on the show.’ ("The Definition Of Crazy"). Despite the very many definitions of the term crazy and the obvious bad characteristics that may be associated with it, crazy can be used to describe the unique, creative and unusual character of an intelligent person.

There are several types of crazy such as crazy in love, crazy mental, crazy intelligent and crazy relationships. Every human being gets to be crazy in love at least once in a lifetime. The feeling associated with being crazy in love is related to giving your all to the other person in your life. Jaden, a 22-year old man, meets a girl in college, and they become friends. For over a year Jaden is a faithful friend and supports his friend Kayla through the hardships of college life, and when Kayla strays away to make extra money, Jaden remains to be a true friend.

Jaden loves Kayla, but she does not know that and every time Kayla goes out, Jaden makes sure she is home safe and even takes care of her when he gets a sexually transmitted disease. Kayla treats Jaden as a friend but when she finds put about his feelings for him things change, and she starts seeing him in a different perspective. The story illustrates that Jaden is crazy in love with Kayla. Crazy in this context is to signify looking beyond the shortcomings of someone and being truly devoted

to them.

Crazy mental is the negative definition of crazy which involves one being insane or having serious mental problems that make it hard for the person to relate to other people. Mental crazy can be directly or indirectly related to anxiety and mood disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders and eating disorders. Obsessive-compulsive disorder and PTSD also other types of mental crazy. Anxiety disorder is a mental crazy which makes people respond with fear or panic towards various situations.

If a person is unable to control how to respond to various situations, then that is referred to as anxiety disorder. Mood disorders are also associated with metal crazy people whereby one moment they’re happy and the next they’re sad. An example of such a definition is when one says, “I don’t care if she is your friend, and she’s crazy.” Personality disorders also can give the perception of one to be mental crazy. These people have trouble relating to other people and forming a relationship because their way of thinking differs from what the society expects of them.

They are also unpredictable in the way they behave and as a result, it interferes with the normal day-to-day functioning of a person. The psychotic disorder is when one hears voices or sees things that are not real. A person with such behaviours can be described as crazy. Mental crazy has more to do with unexpected behaviour and trouble forming relationships with other people around them. ("Types Of Mental Illness").

Another crazy is crazy intelligent. It is amazing how crazy intelligent kids of this generation have grown to relate to technology. Crazy intelligent is a positive trait that is used to

describe genius intelligence. The irony of being intelligent is that most smart people are easily bored by what an average person considers being interesting. That is why they follow a more complex route to tap further into their intellect and put their capabilities into more superior use. The genius gene of people is labelled to be unusual since they do not do things the way the society expects them to.

Hence, they are termed “crazy.” (Dixon). For instance, Albert Einstein who invented modern physics and several theories was considered a genius and the crazy thing about him is that he never wore socks and later married his cousin. Einstein can be termed as a crazy intelligent person because of his ability to invent complex physics theories, but the craziness bit of him was related to marrying his cousin and not wearing socks. Aristotle’s famous quotes say, “no great mind has ever existed without a touch of madness,” (Aristotle) and this is true because the most genius people have been associated with some level of bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. Kay Redfield Jamison, who suffers from bipolar disorder and studies at Johns Hopkins school of Medicine, studies indicate that children who show early signs of high IQs are four times more likely to be victims of bipolar disorder. (Scotti and Scotti).

According to Waugh, the reason why people with a high level of intelligence are susceptible to bipolar disorder is that they have a gene known as DARPP-32, which has been claimed to connect genius cells to madness cells. This gene has its advantages such as experiencing better cognitive improvements but on the downside, it also contains certain risks

that are associated with being crazy of going mad. The harmfulness or its advantages to the gene’s carrier are associated with the presence of a pre-existing brain impairment which can be schizophrenia. The predicament of whether one turns out to be a genius or crazy is merely dependent of how the gene is nurtured within one’s body. (Scotti and Scotti).

Additionally, crazy intelligence does not only apply to human beings but also to some animals. For instance, the mouse has been a primary subject in most experiments performed by scientists. According to a video clip by Mouse Agility on YouTube the mouse do some tricks and are rewarded by food. Every time they do something right, the mice are intelligent enough to know that they will get a reward hence it keeps them motivated to do it right. (Goodman).

These examples of a mouse being sent to fetch something and in return get food as a reward shows some special tricks that are beyond the intelligence of an ordinary mouse. Crazy intelligent can be argued in both a negative and positive way. Negative in that most genius people are associated with bipolar disorders and other dysfunctions which affect their mental state and positive in that, these same people have invented new things and come up with theories that have changed the world.

Crazy is also a term commonly used to describe relationships that are either going awfully well or failing terribly. Take for instance an example of a person who says, “You guys look crazy cute together.” and another one who says, “I don’t know how you do it, your relationship has been crazy.” From the two scenarios,

the first statement is meant to imply a positive energy and relationship between two people while the latter has more to do with the struggle and headaches that the relationship seems to be experiencing.

When one has to use the term crazy in a relationship in a negative way he or she is obviously questioning the sanity of the other person. In most cases you will find one wondering and ask rhetorical questions like “is it just me?” or “Am I the only one noticing this?” When there is a lot of self-doubt in a relationship, it calls into question whether or not your partner is on the same page with you.

Let’s look at how girls drive their boyfriends crazy in a relationship. There are three types of girlfriends that can drive a relationship crazy until it hits rock bottom. These three types on girlfriends include the jealousy type, the emotional type, and the clingy one. None of the three types makes things easier on the partner in that relationship. For instance, the clingy girlfriend wants to possess you and be with you all the time.

She wants to hold your hand as you walk on the road just so the rest of the world can know you’re taken. A clingy girlfriend always never gives you a choice; it’s either her way or no way. If you want to go to a movie it has to be to a cinema they like and not one that you prefer. She always has to win, and that is why she can be categorized as a crazy person who her persistent annoyance. The emotional girlfriend is an emotional wreck and

breaks into tears if you forget her best cereal for breakfast, or her dress catches some dust.

If you dare forget to complement this type of girlfriend them, you are in trouble. She will take several photos and post them on social media and ask you why you haven’t liked them yet. A girl like that can drive any man crazy because their actions are crazy annoying. Lastly, there is the jealous girlfriend who has to know all your friends by name, scrolls through your phone and knows who you’re meeting. She also wants to tag along with you whenever you’re going to meet a new girl whom she doesn’t know.

Anyone in a relationship with such a type of girlfriends then they are in a crazy relationship in that their partners never give them peace. (Miller). Another aspect of a crazy relationship is when everything appears to be your fault and your partner plays the victim all the time. Crazy partners will use non-verbal communication whenever you do something wrong and will not hide it even when you’re in public. They’ll probably roll their eyes or sigh as a way to disapprove on what you’re doing or saying. (Kloppers).

Another perspective of looking at a relationship can be from an optimistic point of view whereby two people who are crazy in love have a crazy sweet relationship. Such partners are described with the word crazy to signify how wonderful, enthusiastic and passionately excited they are about their relationships. An example of the term crazy used to describe such a couple is “He is crazy about that woman because she is crazy caring about him”.

Such a statement shows

the magnitude of love and the strong bond between the two partners in a relationship. Despite the term crazy having very many negative characteristics associated with it, it can also be used to describe such a beautiful scenario of total love and pure trust. The fate of a crazy relationship solely depends on the people in that relationship and how they treat each other.

A new way of looking at the term crazy is the definition of it as an excitement and enthusiastic moment. For instance, one can say, “That was the craziest night I ever had, and I loved the experience. People go crazy with excitement when they realize how amazing or how fun something is. So crazy can be defined as a good, exciting moment is someone’s life. There are several crazy exciting things that one can do in his or her life and never be disappointed by the experience.

For instance skydiving, rock climbing mountaineering and bungee jumping are crazy activities that are filled with thrills of adventure and excitement. Although this may not be totally moral to some people, how about a one-night stand? Pick a stranger in a club and have some good time and in the morning sneak out and go. How crazy is that idea? Try skinny dipping in a lake and run a marathon which you’re sure you may or may not finish. The mere act of trying and challenging yourself is crazy. It sends excitement all over your body because you believe there is fun in such challenges. (Branch).

Impossibility does not matter when one is thinking of the crazy excitement he or she will get from the activities

he or she is engaging in. Impossibility is all about learning something that you haven’t learned yet and when you do it becomes a crazy fun activity. (Branch). A crazy excitement story is about a puppy that could not contain its happiness when he realizes he had a home.

Benny, who was 8-month-old at the time, had been homeless for a few weeks and when he realized he finally had a place he could call home he jumped in hops, ran around the cages and finally to his new family with excitement. The dog was crazy and not in a mental way but rather in the enthusiastic way of showing deep excitement. Benny’s story is one we can relate to as being crazy with excitement. (Yahoo7).

In conclusion, I do concur with other definitions of the word crazy such as one being of unsound mind, being unreasonable and being anxious about something. This is mainly because most genius people whom we call crazy in a good way are also literally crazy due to their susceptibility to a bipolar disorder of schizophrenia. Similarly, crazy can be described with its positive characteristics such as enthusiasm and excitement.

When someone tries something people consider insane or crazy and turns out to like them, then they are filled with excitement, which makes it a crazy interesting thing to do. There is also another situation whereby crazy is associated with good traits such as a crazy sweet girlfriend, a crazy amazing park, and a beautiful crazy experience. The perception of crazy can be positive or negative and the only thing that differentiates the two is the context and circumstances under which the term

is used.
