The delivery of cost-effective care to patients, especially those that are not well off in the society is an important responsibility and necessary aspect for medical practitioners to provide such services. Even though some categories of hospital expenses in terms of hospital equipment or nurses may be outside the control of healthcare providers, there are several of them that are driven by physician practice patterns. The influence of medical practitioners on hospital costs is primarily exerted through laboratory utilization and diagnostic imaging services, hospital length stays, and medication prescribing patterns (Foster et al, 2012). General hospitalists can make a major contribution to cost management efforts and cost effective care by increasing awareness, evaluation, standardization as well as utilization patterns and modification of practices.

and clinical aspects of care that are viewed from the patient's perspective. The effectiveness and safety of the services that patients receive can also be used to define the quality. Furthermore, providing cost effective can be achieved by avoiding unnecessary tests especially when the condition of the patient is apparent thereby lessening the costs of medication that a particular patient is entitled to. The safe care that a patient receives in unlikely to harm or injure them, which is usually characterized as preventable injuries or freedom from accidental by a medical process without limiting access to care. well as giving them physical comfort especially those patients that are in critical conditions or during invasive procedures. By providing care to patients, it bestows more hopes of survival to patients that are diagnosed with critical conditions even though in a real sense they have no or little chances of making it out of their medical conditions. In addition, when healthcare providers, administrators, and families work in partnership; patient care experience improves and provider satisfaction increases thereby improving the general condition of the patient that is under medication. At the same time, the cost of the health services will be relatively low and the quality and safety of healthcare rises.

Providing great care to patients as well as improving care services that are being offered has become a priority for all health practitioners having an overall aim of achieving a high degree of patient contentment and increasing the affordability of care services. The increasing demand for better healthcare, more health care regulation, concern about poor outcomes, and the increase in medical malpractice litigation are some of the factors that contribute to this change (Smith et al, 2013). Additionally, the quality of patient care is basically determined by the quality of training, infrastructure quality, operational systems efficiency and competence of personnel. The existence of problems in health care is associated with both medical and non-medical aspects and a comprehensive system that improves that are provided in healthcare centers. Even though there have been many efforts in elevating the quality of care in hospitals and health centers, health care systems in developing countries is faced with greater challenges since the quality and cost of care has to be

balanced with equal opportunities in providing those services.

One of the ways of maintaining cost effectiveness of the services provided can be realized by engaging the patients in shared decision-making or seeking consents from the family of the patient before carrying out some medical diagnostic exams that might be deemed unnecessary depending on the patient’s condition. Cost effectiveness can as well be maintained by providing the patient or concerned parties with the sufficient information about all clinical procedures and measures to be undertaken therefore the patient can make informed choices. Moreover, cost-effectiveness can be maintained by engaging health care providers as well as pharmaceutical manufacturers and medical technology of medical equipment that are utilized in diagnostic examinations so that they can give transparency of prices on the goods and services that they provide.
