Civil Engineering Is a Profession That Constantly Needs Training Essay Example
Civil engineering is a professional discipline dealing with design, maintenance and construction of naturally built environments. For instance, this engineering discipline is termed as a community service for developing, improving and maintaining the massive construction Project. In this context, civil engineers foster a challenge to the problems of pollution, traffic congestion, water supply and other necessary projects that meet human need. In their professionals, civil engineers have the capacity to plan for the safety requirement, feasibility, and the expected cost required for the completion of the construction process. Therefore, civil engineering profession embraces the new technology by applying the recent concepts in Computer Aided Design. Moreover, civil engineering as a technical profession enables students to develop adequate specialist knowledge in water management fields, marine civil engineering, earthquake engineering and environmental engineering policies.
Civil engin
...eers specifically focus on the creation of structural engineering policies on the main sub-disciplines. Transportation engineers specifically design, construction of roads, railroads, subway systems, and airports. In that case, Civil engineers encompass much of modern civilization in the construction of buildings and bridges. For instance, New York City is one of the most developed towns in the world out of its impressive water supply systems perfected by the civil engineering profession. Above all, the old engineering concepts of sanitary engineering have evolved drastically to modern environmental engineering. In this circumstance, Civil engineers in their profession do a lot more than designing buildings and bridges. Their application has found space in the aerospace industry for designing Space stations and Jetliners. In the Automotive industry, civil engineers improve the Crashworthiness of automotive bumpers and doors. Moreover, they still provide the expertise needed to perfect th
load carrying capacity of Chassis (Benjamin& Cornell, 2014).
Likewise, Civil engineers play a significant role to oversee constructions in the shipbuilding industry. Consequently, the play a developmental role in power supply industries for the construction of subway systems and hydroelectric power systems as illustrated in figure 1.1 Figure 1.1 shows the impressive civil engineering project of Hoover Dam. Its architectural expertise and historical power make it appear among the Seven Wonders of the World. Consequently, this dam provides more than four billion kilowatts hours of electricity at an equivalent cost of 6.6 million (Stevens, 1990).
Nevertheless, civil engineers focus on math applications such as calculus and trigonometry useful for analysis in their work. Calculus and trigonometry knowledge engineers to ascertain the strength and the type of steel needed in the particular field of construction. Moreover, math knowledge applies to defining foundations through testing and analysis of materials and soil types. For this reason, Civil engineers inspect to confirm whether the proposed construction site fits the location. Water flow rates and the material stress factors are analyzed. Moreover, material cost estimates and their quantities are analyzed to enable engineers to prepare a report citing the necessary adjustments from what is allowed before the project initiates.
The rise of new technologies, such as the use of AutoCAD designs and other design software helps engineers to measure the required standards for the construction of certain structures such as hydraulic systems. Software designs help civil engineers understand the project dependencies and to maintain data that are more consistent. This promotes greater visibility in the entire project construction.
Like today, we have witnessed great wonders of civil engineering projects in the world. Concerning this,
the Great Wall of China is the longest wall and the greatest wonder of the world. The wall as illustrated in figure 1.2, integrated as a military defensive system, comprises of the 3,889-mile section of the actual wall. Moreover, the military wall covers over 20,000km fitted with fortresses, defined special passes and beacon towers. The architectural expertise employed in the construction of this wall has enhanced the profession of Civil Engineers to a greater height (Fisher, 1995).
In conclusion, Civil engineers play a vital role in today’s architectural designs. For instance, thus profession requires people with great expertise to think methodically to maintain a great overview of the success of the entire project. Moreover, experts in this field must possess excellent verbal and leadership skills to challenge the technical problems that arise in this field. Civil engineering is a great career that helps every nation to develop and stand in the world with the proud. From the recent expert survey, Civil Engineering is an exciting profession that gives an expert an open opportunity to see the results of their expertise.
