Short term base lodging is the main reason that a hotel has been established. In the Philippines, wherein many foreign people go and have a vacation, hotel is always their first destination to have relaxation after long hours of travel in an airplane. Because of the rapid increase of foreigners visiting the Philippines for a vacation, a common sight is the establishments ad sophisticated hotels for competitive advantage.

As the result of the competition between different hotels, various business strategies had been made to attract customers, such as putting discounts, having beautiful and relaxing environment and above all having a state of the art computer system and facilities. From the information gathered, the proponents came up with an idea of proposing a system that is relevant to the needs of the establishment, highly efficient to meet their needs and most of all simple, easy to use system. log book, difficulties in making reservations and difficulties in retrieving information on their previous guests because of the papers that are scattered everywhere and misplacing of the guestless records. The proposed system, which is 658 Apartelle Online Reservation Management System (AORMS) is intended to answer the need of the company for an electronic guest list record. 658 AORMS will provide a fast retrieval of output in pertaining guest information.

Furthermore, because of its features like online chat with the front desk wherein the potential guests can ask questions to the front desk, hotel room mapping wherein the potential guests is enable to take a tour in the hotel facilities and to check the rooms, room reservation system wherein the potential guests can choose the room he/she wanted and the online payment of fees for the potential guests. The proposed system will surely give the not only the experience of touring the hotel but also giving assurance for the hotel management that those who reserve at the hotel will surely lounge.

The proposed system will also have some limitation but it will still be upright to the need of the company. Furthermore, this system is said to be a business strategy in attracting customers because system uses the internet, a cost efficient measure for advertisement and publicity. In conclusion, the proposed project will be a good alternative for the company in upgrading their manual guest list record system to a computerized online guest list database system. II. Objectives of the study General Objective:

To develop an online reservation management system for 658 Apartelle that enables potential customers to reserve for rooms online with the aide of

the internet Specific Objectives:

To determine the advantages and disadvantages of an online reservation management system for apartelles. To develop operational procedures on how to install the online reservation for 658 Apartelle 3.

To evaluate the Guest List Online Reservation Database System for 658 Apartelle in terms of:

  • User Friendliness
  • System Manageability and Supervision
  • Cost effectiveness

Scope and Delimitations Scope: The study is focused on the following areas: features of the proposed system, objects and facilities to be used, pseudo code and the beneficiaries of the said proposal. The online reservation management system for 658 Apartelle will feature a dynamic and hardware integrated website for potential customers. Through the use of the internet, the customer can see, locate and reserve the room that he/she wants to occupy.

The system will require three (3) cameras for initial presentation to feature the rooms for customers. Furthermore, there are modes of payment provided in the system for the ease of reservation and transactions online through the use of a generic bank. Payments of the customers will be done online through ATM and credit cards for reservation guarantuee. In addition to the features of the system, confirmation of reservation will be sent to potential customers through SMS (Short Message Service).

Additionally, customers can even have an opportunity to chat with the front desk officer for further clarifications and information regarding the reservation. The study will also include different classification of rooms, facilities and finest cuisines of the apartelle to feature it on the website. Moreover, the above mentioned proposal will be developed through the use of PHP (Hypertext PreProcessor) and MySQL database for the storage of data of

reservations. Graphical user interface and the backbone of the program will also be shown in the study.

Technical, operational, schedule and economic feasibility reports are also included in the coverage of this study. It is to foresee the cost estimates, time span, and operational procedures and cost benefit analysis of the proposal that will be discussed further on the next chapters. Theoretical frameworks and the techniques that will be used to conduct this research will also be included in the scope of the study. Delimitation: The study will not cover and will limit itself to customers outside the Philippines.

Reservations that will be done are only located in Metro Manila only wherein the 658 Apartelle is located. Furthermore, the researchers limited this research to customers that are above 18 years old and the rooms that they will occupy will depend on the classification of what they have chosen. Moreover, the study delimits itself to the privacy of customers that have occupied the rooms inside the apartelle’s premises. Potential customers can not be able to view occupied rooms instead they will be directed to available rooms only.

In addition to this, the study will be limited to review studies that are only related to the proposal which is an online reservation management system. Additionally, this study as well as the proposed system will not cover confidential files and other records of the company to protect their privacy. The proposed system will also be delimited to customers with ATM or credit cards for it is essential for reservation otherwise, those who does not have it should have to go personally to the apartelle.

Significance of the Study:

The study is intended to seek the problem of the company and to find an alternative solution, which is both cost effective and efficient to match with the standards of the company and its users.
