would take two samples. ne in which the Bursatella leachii was placed in its normal environment. The second sample would have the Bursatella leachii in a controlled environment, where we could control the brightness, darkness, and the temperature of the water. Since we know what would happen if the Bursatella leachii are in contact with warmer water, we would use the second controlled sample, and tweak the temperature and the brightness to decide if it was the brightness, or the actual heat that caused the space to vary between the Bursatella leachii.

For example, in the second sample, I could first try to lower the temperature , but keep the brightness at the normal for that time of day. We would observe to see if the Bursatella leachii responded to the temperature, in which they would huddle together, or react normally according to the data we collected with the control. We could also do the opposite, and turn up the brightness, while keeping the temperature at what it was supposed to be. In this case, the Bursatella leachii would spread apart if they were following the light intensity.
