Although both the proponents and opponents of Malathion application have their own points for choosing their stand in the issue together with their care for the city and its people and eagerness to solve the city’s problem regarding the WNV, only one side and action can be taken, to apply Malathion or not.

If I were to decide on the issue, I would rather not

use Malathion in the city of Genericville. The use of Malthion was proposed in order to solve the probem of Genercville regarding WNV but it also offers another threat both to the citizens and to the whole community, to the ecosystem, as well. This will be a greater problem for the city and its citizens for tourism in itself depend on the environment. The use of Malthion does not guarantee total eradication of the WNV and in addition, it also offers another threat and thus, another problem.

And therefore, such risk must not be taken. I agree with the opponents of the program that there are some other ways in which the WNV can be reduced if not totally eradicated without compromising the safety and health of the citizens and the condition of the ecosystem. Educating the citizens not only on how to avoid WNV carrying mosquitoes but as well as ways to reduce its population will surely be a great help. Also, it is better to avoid the risks associated with real problem than to avoid the risks associated with the solution to the problem.
