Children need a balanced contribution of visual, melodious and other sensory inducements to develop experience in art and beauty. Visual stimuli are those that children can watch observe to get an insight of beauty and art. They include drawing, modeling, painting construction and printing. Musical stimuli help children develop interest in the artistic aspect of music as well as the beauty of nature.
Examples of such experiences include participating in composition of music, listening to music and sounds of nature as well as singing. Other stimuli include that help in developing a sense of art and beauty in children include taste and smell experiences, in which children link sweet smelling things in nature to their beauty such as flowers, as well as active participation of children in drama and dancing. ...en about art and beauty, I would prefer actively involving them in a physical exercise such as modeling of different physical things such as people and animals using plasticine or in drawing and painting pictures of different things. In modeling, I would prefer to use different colors of the plasticine to give a mixture of colors that would be very realistic and beautiful.
For instance, the use of blue, white, yellow or green to show clothes in a person and brown color to depict the rest of the body would produce a very beautiful artwork. In drawing, I would prefer the use of pencils, sizeable manila papers and different colors of water based paints to draw and paint beautiful natural things such as the rainbow. In the promotion of aesthetic qualities in children, their work and play areas can be either indoor or outdoor but
in either case, the environment should provide open-ended materials such as clay, crayons, water based paints, drawing papers and markers. The materials should be presented as options of two or three to foster decision making but too many choices can overwhelm young children. For best results, they should be given freedom to work on their projects without direct interference and instruction from an adult.
Above all, the best environment for work and play of children is that which allows children to directly engage in activities such as to integrate their activities with their existing mental structures. In promoting aesthetic awareness in adults, their working environment should allow for time to reflect on ideas, accommodate intellectual diversity and encourage unrestricted communication, which will allow the members to actively exchange ideas, encourage each other to build on ideas and realize the talent and expertise among members. Acknowledgement of intellectual diversity helps in the presentation of a wide range of ideas because different people reason from different perspectives. Strategies to foster aesthetic awareness and creativity in children Aesthetic awareness can be nurtured by provision of an aesthetically pleasing learning and playing environment characterized by bright beautiful colors and artwork, encouragement of visual representation and expression for children to record the program aspects, displaying quality visual arts done by adults and aesthetically pleasing display of the work that have been done by children. Development of creativity in children requires exposure to a variety of artworks done by other people as well as natural phenomenon such as physical features and animals so that children can develop ideas by integrating their minds with what they have seen or experienced. They should also
be equipped with materials that they can use in making their projects (Kellert, 2002) The following are key aspects that I can incorporate in the design of aesthetic experiences program for children: it is important to allow enough time and space for children to share their creative arts such as music and drawings with others, including the interest of different children and their artistic experiences in reacting to developing skills, equipping their learning and playing environment with as many natural materials as possible and displaying natural beauty items such as animal shells and rocks.
The first thing that I would do is to express my admiration for beautiful butterflies as well so as to make her feel comfortable with her situation. I would also commend her drawing as good even if it is not that perfect so as to give her morale in drawing more artworks. I would also show her a picture or diagram of a brightly butterfly and encourage her to try coloring her diagram so as to further nurture her drawing and aesthetic interest. Taking photographs of different activities such as fishing and that of different animals when children go to an educational trip is one major appreciation to nature and culture since the photographs will be available for teaching references and decoration of classes. After an adventure outdoors, it is important for children to describe what they saw, especially through art/drawing.
This will not only boost their creativity but also appreciate the natural aesthetics. An indoor play area should be spacious, well lit and ventilated, with a naturally colored beautiful background as well as a wide variety of materials children can use in
their dramatic play. An outdoor play area should be as natural as possible for example, presence of plants and beautiful flowers. There should be harmless tools for them to use in their play, and they should be allowed to create their own background setting such as construction of houses and compounds. The play area should offer a wide range of opportunities such as hideouts, beautiful tree species and water if possible so as to widen the window for the selection of the play theme.
A play area for children aged three should be a restricted spacious place whose area is about a hundred square meters. It should not contain any potentially harmful things such as thorns, sharp metallic or plastic things. It should not have direct access to large amounts of water. The background should be natural, with soft grass and medium sized trees (those that cannot be uprooted or broken by children) and if a wall is used to enclose the area, it should be brightly colored with beautiful colors such as orange, yellow and violet.
Drawings of some animals and cartoons can also be included. The area should have a stock of toys of cars, children and animals as well as balls for playing alongside other playing kits. An example of an inviting, stimulating and safe experience for an individual five-year-old or a small group of five-year-old children involved imitative, dramatic and imaginative play. Observation drawing is one way in which kids can imitate and express their imaginations.
Children love drawing, the tips to making this an engaging activity for the kids include: Make the art area free, don’t interfere while the kid is drawing and
avoid directing the kid on what to do. Let the kid express his/her imagination. Let the kid explain the drawing and don’t try to influence their imagination. It is important to appreciate the kid on his imagination, imitation of others idea. It is important to ensure the room does not have objects that may hurt the kids.
