Discrimination
Discrimination comes in many ways and forms. Among the ways that individual can be discriminated against include ethnicity, color, social status, their sexual orientation and sex as well. For instance, hate crimes and racism are prominent forms of discrimination. Discrimination is an action that is based on either prejudice or stereotypes. For instance, not hiring people from a certain tribe. The hiring managers will hire people from their race first, before considering others. People can also be discriminated because of the beliefs. Discrimination and prejudice are related in many ways.
Prejudice
Prejudge is a way that means an individual is judged beforehand. Besides that, prejudice is an opinion directed towards an individual or a group of people after assessment based on their personal bias, the limited facts, and the available information. It is important to note
...that prejudice are normally accompanied by either hatred or unawareness. For instance, some individuals tend to think that someone wearing a standard clothes is poor. Normally, that is not the case as the discriminated individual can be very rich. Individual will be discriminated due to their ethnicity. There are many cases of prejudice in modern day America.
Stereotypes
Stereotype remains as an overstated belief. This means that a belief of the individuals’ type or the group they belong to. This judgment maybe made based on reputation passed to kids by their parents, images seen in the mass media, and from friends and members of community in general. Stereotype is a form of discrimination and it is normally untrue and unfair to the discriminated individuals’. On my opinion, prejudice, stereotypes, and prejudices are related. I think discrimination can be overcome by educating our children
and being open minded to the diverse cultures, religions, ethnicity, and personal experiences as well.
