The theories in nursing offer the systematic method for viewing the nursing professional practice of describing, guiding as well as generating the knowledge to push further the practice of nursing. Watson's philosophy and theory of transpersonal caring were chosen by Kawead Delta’s nurses that were registered, as the foundation for the practice of nursing (Watson, 2010). The onset of caring begins with the ability to be present, merciful, gentle, loving kindness as well as compassion towards oneself before offering the same to others. It involves the processes of Carita’s that form the framework that guides the theory.
Transpersonal involves the inner life concern for the world, of another person that is completely embodied. In addition, transpersonal deals with going beyond the moment that is given and the ego self. It involves the endeavor to connect
...to the spirit through going deeper with the extended universe. As a result, the relationship of the transpersonal caring transcends to the ego self. Hence, it radiates to the spiritual and the cosmic concerns. Therefore, the connections facilitate in the tapping of the possibilities of healing as well as the potentials (Watson, 2010).
The application of Watson's theory of transpersonal caring in the operating nursing room assists nurses being available to patients. It assists them to model the care for the patients as well as themselves. It also helps in the validation of uniqueness for the patients and themselves. Further, it helps in treating the patients with loving kindness as well as have the genuine concern for others. It helps in demonstrating respect for the patients. Moreover, it assists with the holding of a space that is sacred for the patients a
their needful time (Watson, 2010).
In conclusion, there is a need for nurses to uphold the transpersonal caring by Watson to offer unique care to patients in time of their need. It assists nurses to acknowledge their feelings as well as their patients, enhancing their duty of care.
