Legree puts Tom in shackles on a boat and takes all of his possessions except for his hidden bible. When Legree finds Tom's hymn book he says no religion is allowed.

Legree is lonely on the farm only having two black overseers and Cassy, his sex slave, whom he will replace with Emmeline. The plantation is horrific and Tom begins to lose his faith until he sees a vision of Eva

Tom and Cassy are working when Tom sees a slave woman struggling and helps her. The overseers report this to Legree who tells Tom to whip the woman. When Tom refuses the overseers beat him nearly to death

Cassy tries to heal Tom after his beating. Cassy has no faith but Tom tries to convince her. Cassy says how she is half-black and grew up as the mistress of a lawyer and had several children. The lawyer fell in love with another woman and sold Cassy and her children who became separated. Cassy had another child but poisoned it as to not suffer the pain of losing it

Legree feels a connection with Cassy. Sambo (an overseer) brings Legree Eva's lock of hair he took from Tom. The lock of hair twines around Legree's finger freaking him out. We learn Legree's mom was nice and his dad was harsh. He took after his Dad but when his Mom was dying she sent him a lock of her hair which is why the hair freaks out Legree. Legree fears Tom's spiritual powers

Cassy asks Legree to leave Tom alone, he does not. Legree threatens Tom but Tom says there is nothing Legree can do to harm him as he had a vision of eternity to look forward to.

George and Eliza arrive at the next Quaker Settlement and leave Tom Loker with quackers to be nursed back to health. Loker becomes a changed man. George and Eliza make it to Canada

Tom feels his faith falter again and Legree taunts him. Tom sings a hymn and sees Jesus, renewing his faith even when Legree beats him. Cassy is planning to murder Legree despite Tom's begging not too

Cassy devises a plan to make Legree think there are ghosts in the garret of the house. She and Emmeline then escape. While the overseers hunt for them Cassy and Emmeline slip back into the garret where Cassy has hoarded supplies and food and where any noises will be attributed to ghosts.

Legree was unable to take out his frustration on Emmeline and Cassy so he beat Tom because he believed Tom knew something about their escape. Tom says he would rather die then tell Legree. Legree beats Tom all night then directs the overseers to continue beating Tom. Tom's faith touches Sambo and Quimbo

Master Georgre arrives at Legree's plantation to buy Tom but finds him near death. Tom sees Master George and dies a contented death. Master George he will sue Legree but he can't because no whites witnessed it. George strikes Legree. Other slaves beg George to buy the, but he can't

Cassy and Emmeline escape from the plantation in disguises and meet George Shelby on a boat. Cassy tells George everything and George says he will protect them. Madame de Thoux talks to George Shelby and realises George Harris (Eliza's husband) is her brother. Cassy thinks Eliza may be her daughter

Cassy, Emmeline, and Madame de Thoux arrive at Montreal to meet George (mechanist shop) and Eliza Harris (had a second child, daughter). de Thoux offers the family her dead husband's fortune and they move to France and then Liberia (where George advocates freed slaves should go) He is never heard from again

George Shelby returns home and tells Chloe about Tom. George gives free papers to all the slaves, saying he will pay them all wages and they will be freed upon his death. George tells everyone the story of Uncle Tom's death and tells them to think of freedom when they see his cabin

Epilogue in which Stowe says all of these events occurred not among these characters, but among various people of the times. Then begs the North and South alike to end slavery in the name of God.
