The hot water pulsates on my back like a heart beat after a dynamic performance. My shower is over and my fun will soon begin. My girls called me frantically on the phone screaming about the hottest party in town and I am definitely going to be seen there.

I search through my closet to see what I can wear. I pick out one of my favorites; it’s a sleeveless floral chiffon blouse. It has this beautiful pop art design of red, yellow, green, and purple flowers with a ruffled detail at the waist. It’s super sophisticated, cosmopolitan, and very trendy in today’s fashion world. I top it with the perfect summer essential which is some non-cliche khaki linen shorts. I love them, because they are great for my legs, making me appear to be like a flamin

go, long and graceful.

Now it’s time for my for the number one highlight of my outfit; the shoes. My girls and I always try to outdo each other when it comes to our “foot work. ” I search through piles and piles of shoe boxes looking for the perfect shoe and at last I found a pair.Tonight I’m going to talk a walk on the wild side with my crocodile embossed, gladiator inspired, brown sandals.

They’re fresh from Steve Madden, right off the new arrival section, they’re so debonair; and I know none of my girls have these. I’m still not done with my regalia. It’s time for the accessories that I know will be the perfect addition to animating my glamorous ensemble. As I look into my jewelry box I have absolutely no idea what to choos

from. Ok, so maybe I will start with the handbags. Should I do my olive, oversized, multicolored clutch?Or my textured woven tote bag with the chain link shoulder straps? Well, since it’s a party and I don’t need to really carry anything besides my cell phone and lip gloss, I decided to grab my clutch purse.

I suddenly hear a car horn blowing really loud and I know it was them. Darn it I’m not even ready. I quickly throw on some wooden and gold plated bangles and a pair of golden sage eardrop pendants, with sunburst filigree cut-out designs, on a metal hook type of earrings. Ok I believe that I am finally ready.

I run down stairs like an Olympic track star after a gold, metal, and out the door. Everyone greets me and tells me how fabulous I look. My girls looked great too with their hair and makeup looking flawless. It’s almost as if we are Barbie dolls in our Glam 5000 Convertible. We talk and laugh for a couple minutes and then we suddenly come to a stop. We are all addled about wondering why we are pulled over.

Well, from the looks of things we were definitely at our destination, hints the array of people surrounding the building. But as for the neighborhood, it was disgusting. There is prostitutes running all around the place, drug addicts, graffiti on the walls, and the pavement is all cracked up. This is definitely not our thing. We were expecting a neighborhood like we live in, mansions, villas, green grass, birds chirping, and lakes and ponds in our backyards. Not this place, it smelled like

fried chicken mixed with a bottle of hair grease.

I want to go back, but my girls are extremely eager, because all they hear is the bass bumping and people screaming, as if they were having a good time.As we start walking up the steps, guys are whistling at us, asking for our numbers, and trying to grab our hands. I was scared to death when I walked in. The house was filthy and on top of that it used to be an abandoned building. I start to see a few people I know and they assured me that the place was okay.

As we walk down the basements cracked up steps, where the real party happens to be, I am blown away. The dance floor is filled with flashing lights resembling a giant Rubik’s cube; there is fog and smoke floating in the air, and a live DJ.I am definitely stunned and I had no idea that this horrible and beat down house was going to look like this. Next thing I know, my girls and I run out onto the dance floor, grabbed the closes boys we see, and start to dance our behinds off.

The crowd was cheering and singing, as loud as a marching band in a football stadium. I am too hype right now, I start to sweat like never before, I take off my shoes and really start to get down. I’m so hot; the devil starts to drink an ice cold glass of lemonade. My girls and I dance and dance for hours, until the party was finally over. Man, I feel like I just got started.

We launch

out to the car singing the last song we just heard, we were definitely not afraid of anything anymore; not the drug heads, the streetwalkers, or the pimps. We just know that we had a great time and know that we should “never judge a book by its cover,” because we’ll never know which page to land on. Now, I’m going to go home, hop on the phone, and reminisce on how we tore up the dance floor.
