The purpose of this essay is to reveal the morality of the society in abandoning children to inhuman and poor working conditions as portrayed in “Chimney Sweeper” by William Blake. The importance in reading this essay is to enlighten the reader of the poverty and unkindness that has marred the societies of the world through the mind of Blake’s poem. In this poem, a young boy is loses his mother and was unkindly sold to a sweeper; the boys carries on with the tough work albeit hoping for a bright future. The reader will learn to value parental care especially children at their tender age. There are three reasons to read this essay.
The first reason is to gain insight on themes of family and parental love. The evidence is the fact that the narrator was sold by his father when he h

The second reason is to have a view of the innocence of children. The evidence is the death the narrator’s mother when he was of a tender age. The reason this true is because children barley have control over their lives of their parents; at a tender age they are innocently treated by cruel life conditions. For example, the narrator also mentions the afflictions of a fellow narrator, Tom Dacre, exposed to similar conditions of child labor. The evidence certainly proves the thesis.
The third reason is to enable the reader to understand the concept of irony in the poem.
The evidence is the idea that the narrator’s statements on happiness are immediately undercut. The reason this is so is because reader will certainly become appalled at the imperative. For example, the speaker says that because he appears happy, they think they have done him no harm. The evidence certainly proves the thesis. The reader needs to respond personally to this essay; the reader needs to advocate for the abolishment of child neglect and careless parental care. There needs to be a personal response in order to become a reality in the reader’ personal life.
In conclusion, The evidence presented certainly proves the essay’s thesis that in William Blake’s “Chimney Sweeper” there is parental care negligence seen by exposing children to inhuman and poor working conditions. The reason this is true is because the essay has found out that the narrator was abandoned at a very early age by his father; he actually sold the speaker to a sweeper who met a fellow child called Tom. Thus the reader needs to respond personally to this essay in order for the essay to have an impact in the reader’s personal life.
