What is The Americas?
The Americas are the two continents located in the western hemisphere, made up of North America and South America. The Americas have a rich and varied history that has been shaped by its many cultures, peoples, languages, and religions. Spanning over 8 million square miles, each country in this region has something unique to offer travelers and locals alike. With stunning natural wonderment such as the Amazon Rainforest or majestic Machu Picchu; thriving cities such as Rio de Janeiro or Mexico City; diverse wildlife like the jaguar in Brazil or the llama in Peru; there is no shortage of experiences to be had here.One of the most remarkable aspects of The Americas is its cultural diversity. From Spanish-speaking countries like Argentina and Cuba to Portuguese-speaking countries like Brazil and Portugal, there are multiple language families spoken across both continents. It also boasts an impressive array of indigenous peoples whose cultures still remain alive today from Mayan communities in Guatemala to Mapuche communities in Chile. As well as various religious beliefs ranging from Christianity (the dominant religion) to Afro-Caribbean faiths such as Santeria or Vodou which can still be found throughout Latin America today. In terms of geography, it would be impossible not to mention some iconic landmarks that make up part of The Americas’ breathtaking landscape: Niagara Falls between USA & Canada; Angel Falls in Venezuela (the highest waterfall on Earth); Iguazu Falls between Argentina & Brazil; among others. Transporting yourself through any part of this landmass will show you a multitude of different terrains due to its sheer size soaring mountains across Peru & Bolivia giving way to lush rainforests down south near Colombia & Ecuador before reaching vast plains around Paraguay & Uruguay with their endless pastures for cattle rearing. Truly a continent like no other. From vibrant street art scenes vibrating through Buenos Aires’ cobbled streets all the way out into remote rural villages where time stands still: exploring The Americas will never cease amazing us with its endless wonders.
