What is Romantic Era?
The Romantic Era was a period of time in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries when literature, art, and music flourished. During this time, the focus shifted from logic to emotion and imagination. Writers explored nature and its meaning for humanity, celebrating individualism and expressing emotions in a new way. Artists focused on capturing emotion rather than simply depicting a scene or person realistically. Musicians experimented with song structure, harmony, instrumentation and orchestration in order to express feelings through their music.Romanticism was born out of an age of revolutionintellectual, political, socialand the Romantic Era sought to understand the world around them by focusing on both the beauty of nature as well as its darker side. Writers like William Wordsworth championed respect for nature while Mary Shelley wrote about science gone wrong in her classic novel Frankenstein. Authors like Charlotte Bronte challenged traditional roles for women while Victor Hugo wrote novels that celebrated freedom from oppression; many authors focused on topics such as love or death that evoked strong emotion in their readers. Artists during this period sought to capture emotion rather than just depict reality; they painted scenes full of movement and color instead of still life paintings that had been popular before this time. They embraced fantasy and mythology as subject matter for their work; Caspar David Friedrich’s Wanderer Above The Sea Of Fog is one example of this type of painting from this era. In terms of music, composers during this period wanted to evoke strong feelings through their works; they experimented with different forms such as symphonies which allowed them to explore a range of emotions within one piece. They also used unique instrumentation such as harps or horns instead of relying solely on strings or pianos like had been done before then. Notable composers from the Romantic Era include Ludwig van Beethoven who wrote his famous Symphony No 5 at this time; Johannes Brahms who composed his German Requiem during this era; and Franz Schubert who created his Unfinished Symphony during it too. The Romantic Era was an important period in history because it allowed artists to explore emotions through various mediums including literature, art and music which has led us to where we are now today with our appreciation for these types of media.
