What is Empire State Building?

The Empire State Building is an iconic Art Deco skyscraper located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It stands at a remarkable height of 1,454 feet and was the world’s tallest building for nearly 40 years before being surpassed by the World Trade Center’s North Tower in 1972. Constructed over a period of one year and 45 days, the building was completed on April 11th, 1931 at an estimated cost of $41 million. The design of the building is attributed to architects Shreve, Lamb & Harmon, who were inspired by The Chrysler Building across town. The exterior features a beautiful combination of brick and limestone with stainless steel accents. There are also detailed stone carvings on many parts of the facade that add to its grandeur. Inside, there are 73 elevators that lead up to its 102 stories; they serve as one of its most popular tourist attractions as people can get a stunning view from the top floors. The Empire State Building has become an iconic symbol for New York City and for America as a whole due to its impressive size and unique architecture. This iconic tower has become more than just a piece of architecture; it serves as testament to America’s strength and resilience through hard times such as the Great Depression while still managing to stand tall today after almost 90 years since it was built.
