What is American Red Cross?
The American Red Cross (ARC) is a humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and education in the United States. The ARC was founded in 1881 by Clara Barton and is currently led by CEO Gail McGovern. It is one of the oldest and largest volunteer organizations in the world, with over 1 million volunteers across the country. The ARC provides a wide range of services from first aid training to disaster relief operations, blood drives to international development projects. The ARC has become an integral part of American culture and its mission has evolved over time to meet changing needs. Initially, it provided medical assistance to wounded soldiers during wartime; now it responds to natural disasters such as hurricanes and floods. In addition to providing assistance during crises, the ARC promotes safety preparedness through public education campaigns and community activities. The ARC also participates in international initiatives with other Red Cross societies around the world. During World War I, they distributed funds for relief efforts overseas; after World War II they provided food parcels for those affected by famine; and more recently they have sent resources to help victims of floods in Asia or earthquakes in Haiti or Japan. In addition to providing direct services, the American Red Cross works closely with other organizations such as governments and corporate entities on various projects aimed at improving health care access or reducing poverty levels worldwide. It also assists local communities with disaster preparedness programs that teach individuals how to respond if a crisis were to occur near them. The organization also contributes financial support for many community-based initiatives including food banks, homeless shelters, blood drives etc., making sure it’s always there when people need help most. In short ,the American Red Cross is an exceptional organization whose work spans across multiple areas whether it’s natural disasters , medical emergencies ,international conflicts or everyday emergencies like fires ,the American Red Cross will always be there doing its best so everyone can have access better services.
