What is American Heart Association?
The American Heart Association (AHA) is a non-profit organization that has been dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke since 1924. AHA works to educate the public, advocate for better healthcare policies, and fund research to find new treatments and cures. It also provides support to people who are affected by heart disease or stroke. AHA’s mission is to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. AHA focuses on improving individual health through lifestyle changes such as healthy eating, physical activity, and managing stress. They also work with communities to create environments that promote those lifestyle changes such as smoke-free areas and access to healthy foods. The organization has developed programs tailored for different age groups from children to seniors in order to reach the widest audience possible with its message of prevention and education about heart disease. By supporting research into new treatments for conditions like hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking cessation, physical activity levels and more; AHA hopes not only to increase awareness but also improve the quality of life for those living with these diseases. The organization also works with healthcare providers nationwide in order to provide better care for patients who have already been diagnosed with a heart condition or are at risk of developing one in the future. In addition, they provide educational materials on their website as well as a variety of resources that can be used by individuals or organizations looking for more information on preventing heart disease or treatment options available if someone already suffers from it. Finally, they offer assistance through their volunteer programs so everyone can take part in helping reduce cases of death due to cardiovascular diseases across the world each year by becoming an advocate for change within his/her own community.
